I'm pretty sure a lot of them were just a vote against the Democrats. A lot of republicans would rather die than than vote dem, even if it actively made their lives worse. I'd say trump has bout a third of that figure as staunch followers which is still fucking scary

Seems a little bizarre that he'd want to run again in 4 years' time. I always got the impression he hated most of the job, and that it was never his intention to actually win the first time around. Just doesn't seem worth the squeeze, on the face of it.
