Good lad the right attitude.

Liverpool's Spanish full-back hoping to secure qualification and believes fans will see even more from him next season

Alberto Moreno is one Liverpool player who won’t see qualification for the Europa League as any form of booby prize – if the Reds secure their likely place after the final round of league games this weekend.

Brendan Rodgers’ men head to Sunday’s clash with Stoke in fifth place in the Premier League and will hope to maintain their position ahead of Spurs and Southampton so they can move directly into the group stages which start on September 17.

A complicated set of circumstances – depending on who wins the FA Cup – leaves open the possibility of qualifying stages as early as July 30 or even July 2, if they only end up qualifying through the Fair Play table having slipped to seventh.

But Moreno, a £12m purchase last summer, is in no doubt about the value of the competition, having gone all the way to an emotional final victory with his Sevilla teammates over Benfica last year.

The 22-year-old Spanish full-back told the ECHO: “I’m a big fan of the Europa League, you know I can go home and look at my medal in my trophy cabinet at home which I’ve already won, I love it.

“For any player and any fan, winning any trophy – not least at a European level – is absolutely something positive. We always want to win trophies, let’s face it, and I enjoyed it when we won.”

Moreno’s hometown team are of course back in the Europa League final on May 27 to face Dnipro in Warsaw and he has been in touch with his former teammates to wish them good luck.

“I’ve been texting congratulations and spoken with a few of them, wishing them all the best for the final. I won’t make the final myself, it’s a long way to go Poland and by that time the season will be over and I can’t wait to head back to Spain and speak to my family and spend some time with my mates.

“But I will be watching on TV.”

I still like him.  Play four at the back with Moreno - Sakho - Skrtel - Flanno, we'd be ok.  Manquillo can come in for Flanno in case of injuries.

Stick Can in front of the back four, get in a top notch passing midfielder, let Hendo bomb all over the place, then have Coutinho prompting behind Sturridge and a new striker.  Lallana can offer an option if we want to go more attacking and have Coutinho in the middle, or in a 433, along with Ibe and Markovic.
