Suarez: Keep or Sell?

  1. 1. Suarez: Keep or Sell?

    • Keep him; he is nuts but he is world class and we do not sell world class players.
    • Sell him; he is world class but too much of a nuisance to our club. Time to cash in.
    • Not sure if we should sell him or keep him.

Why is it so hard to fathom us actually buying 3 really good players and replacing one good player?

It's not that hard and if we get it right of course we would be better off.

Why cant you fathom out the reality of our position in regards to attracting players insead of posting simplistic shite.

We can get players like Sturridge that haven't made the grade at Chelsea or Coutinho who might turn out to be a great player but is far from the finished article. So far with those two we have done well. I am sure there will another Downing or Henderson round the corner which will get us nowhere. Getting top notch players is very diffcult for us now, getting someone of Suarez's abilty is impossible. I cant see without a massive Citeh style investment we can reverse the trend and FSG are clearly not in that ball park.

Things didn’t get any better in the summer of 2007. Despite earlier claims of the Uruguayan he would be staying at Groningen, interest of Ajax turned his head. With FC Groningen unwilling to let their main asset go and Ajax winking seductively to the Uruguayan, Suárez and his agent took matter in their own hands.

They filed a lawsuit against FC Groningen, stating a transfer to Ajax would mean both sporting and financial improvement. The lawsuit was lost, but the damage was done. Luis Suárez had made himself intolerable to the FC Groningen-crowd. An €8 million fee + add ons saw Suárez move to Ajax the same day the verdict of the lawsuit had been spoken out. “Good riddance,” was the opinion of most FC Groningen-fans.

Not even remotely applicable to the current situation.

It's never good to lose a good player, but one thing that's always grated a bit with me is our overreliance on individual players, going back to the mid 90s. It's a dangerous way to operate. One of Ferguson's most impressive traits was to build sides which were never overly dependent on one star, in his time he's shipped out more talent than a Ukrainian pimp and they've never skipped a beat.

There are worse things in the world than having no world class stars, such as having one world class star who's a miserable bastard and doesn't want to play for you.

If Luis absolutely wants to go, let the team that wants him pay the appropriate price. Under no circumstance should he be allowed to join Arsenal though.

The price should be £55M once we hit 1 August and goes up by a £1 every day after that until the window closes.

Fucking hell was I just reading a discussing on who the better player is, Suarez Sturridge or coutinho?!

It doesn't always have to be a competition to see who the biggest mong on here is you know.

No you wernt, you were reading people debating if one day coutinho would be better then Suarez.

IM not 100% sure what Suarez was doing when,he was coutinhos age but I know coutinho is playing at a higher standard then Suarez was and coutinho id probably better then Suarez was at same age.

And that is it. But having a set up that gets the business of selling and buying just right is something that has eluded us for far too long. Between 1970 and 1990, how many genuinely poor players did we sign? There were one or two of course, but, for the most part, when we sold players, we replaced them with better ones - and/or we used the money to make them team better.

We had control though, as we were the top of the tree. We could attract the top players and the players in our squad worried they would be replaced rather than leave themselves.

Fergie had control. He wasn't questioned by his own board when he decided who to sell, and if he wanted to sit on a player and not let them leave he was allowed. Rafa couldn't keep Owen or Alonso or even Crouch. Players and more importantly agents understand when managers cannot control things due to shit boards.

The Times are reporting that we have told Arsenal we will not sell Suarez to a rival under any circumstances.

Hope that is true and we have handled it pretty good so far, so I see no reason for that not to be correct.

Nice one.

Please let this be true. I get sick of the thought of selling him to our biggest rival for that fourth spot. It would rather give him away for free to some club abroad than to sell him to them. Good to hear that FSG is not that clueless. (if The Times are correct though)
