I think we have been lacking a presence in the middle for a while and as a squad player I think he would add that,it's not a exciting addition but would offer depth and more than Spearing.

As long as no silly wage increase/signing on fee was involved I agree. He's far better than Spearing will ever be as cover for Lucas.

Of ours hes better than spearing, spearing is awful. Signing a right winger who is 'better than henderson' is not automatically going to make him a good signing. You have to remember that diame is not good enough to get into the wigan side. He is only good enough to be a squad player for them and i'm not sure that makes him good enough for us whether or not hes better than spearing.

I'm only speculating but I reckon the £2-3m transfer fee for Spearing would be cancelled out by Diame earning much more than him.

Gerrard is suffering regular injury spells and is getting on Lucus has just had a possible career ending injury that leaves us with Adam Injured and Spearing and Henderson we have leaked goals because we have failed to cover the back 4 from midfield adding another option into the mix on a free is common sense especially when the transfer budget will be limited we will lose a LB in Aurelioand with Dalglish seeming to lose faith in our LB and playing Johnson in that position i would think a LB is a Priority we also need a finisher once the goals start going in regular they will come from all over the pitch as makers become takers again and we need a winger if we are to lose Maxi and Kuyt Adam Johnson is a player we have been often linked with in the past and City may do a deal one in and one out for them Berbetov would have been a great addition as he scores goals and wouldnt cost the earth Im sure we have our targets and there will be enough money to bring in what we require the problem will be that another season like this one and there will be a flood of decent players wanting to move out
