Can't wait, I finished the first book a week or so ago (now getting through that Jane Bussman book Brendan recommended in the Kony thread - which is ace) so am well up for this. Going to read the second book when the series is done and then get into the others.

I watched the first episode. Didn't much like it (other than the nips on the blonde bird). Am I wrong? Should I stick with it?

There are far too many characters to watch an episode in isolation and understand anything. You need to watch it from the beginning.

Halfway through the fifth book now, I'd start taking notes if I was you.

I have done the same mate. Got the box set through Amazon for €12.99 plus free postage, bargain. Having to wait until I can download the new series as it won't be on German Sky until Nov/Dec time. Toying with reading the second book before watching it though.

Fully caught up now, there's so much going on it's unreal. Tyrion Lannister is already one of my favourite ever telly characters. HBO never ceases to stagger me.

Read the books.

I'm on the fifth one and it's starting to give me a headache...

Haven't seen any of the series but want to - it's finding the time!

Downloaded all of series 1 in HD last week, but haven't watched a single minute so far.

I don't even remotely know what GOT's is about, except I noticed this thread, and my mate The Blackhall Cannonball has been pestering me to give it a go.

Weds night I will try and find some time to watch the first one.

Once you start watching it becomes addictive mate. Most people i know started watching it and had finished the whole lot in a few days. Great storyline, acting and loads of nice tits.

I really wish they'd stop adding characters (random whores), changing characters, killing off characters (that aren't supposed to die, yes yes Rakharo's actor couldn't come back for the second season, but my mates who have watched the series and not read the books, didn't even know who he was ), adding random sex scenes (time better spent on actually filling out the myriad of characters) and other random scenes.

I can't wait for the Battle of the Blackwater, I'm guessing we'll see Tyrion doing something comical.

As a show on it's own its good, but as a show that is trying to depict the books it fails miserably.

Anyone was hasn't seen the show. Read the books first.

If you are watching and love it, and haven't read the books, read them!

They would need a massive budget to do the Battle of Blackwater....see Podrick Payne last night was considerably taller than I imagined.

Can I get a 'hell yeah'.

HBO, just...wow.

HBO ordered a second season of Game of Thrones on 19 April 2011, two days after the series premiere. The second season obtained a 15% increase in budget in order to be able to stage the war's most important battle, the Battle of the Blackwater, in episode nine.
