So he hit it about two seconds after, it was a half volley.

half volly is hit just as ball is off the floor , when your foot hits the ball it should be over it to keep it down and head should be directly over the ball , its a skillful shot in its own right not every one can keep them down.

His shot was just a shot not a volly and not a half volly.

Is correct.

End of day when you was 7-8-9-10 down park playing headers and vollys would you accept that as a half volly ?

No you wouldn't because its not a half volly it took a whole second in air before he hit it any ways who gives it shit.

He had great body shape on that shot and was never gonna miss even if it was offside was a good goal.

As I understand it...

If the ball is falling when struck, it's a volley. If it's rising, it's a half-volley.

Not sure what you call it when it's hit at the absolute apex of its bounce. A trolley?

Ok a volly is hit first time in air every one knows that why is a half volly called a half volly ? because its hit just as ball hits ground so half volly IE people can't tell if its volly or not so they call it half volly.

Its not when ball is rising only when ball just makes contact with ground or just a little afterlike micro seconds after.

A half volley is when the ball is struck on the rise after a bunce. A ball struck at the apex of its journey up, or on its way back down, is a volley.

Anyone that says otherwise hasn't a bull's notion.

Close the thread.

Once the ball has bounced it's a half volley, regardless of if you strike the ball just as it bounces or wait the ball to loop back down.

Rubbish.

What about this situation. The keeper kicks the ball long, it bounces just inside the opposition half, loops up into air all the way to the edge of the box, where the striker hits it without it touching the ground.

So the ball has travelled 40+ yards in the air before the forward kicks it, and you're telling me that's a half volley because it bounced first?

Yeah, that's a half volley.

Once the ball bounces, it takes most of the weight off it and thus it takes less skill to strike it properly.

Guest The Big Green Bastard

some people here have never played headers and volley's then?

Volley = volley

1/2 volley is on the fucking bounce right on the floor.

Bunch of mongs.

So a cushioned header from a striker for his strike partner to volley will have more weight on it than a one bounce goal kick dropping out of the sky? Ah come on!

Cos it fucking is!

Correct.

Just no

Correct again.

Just yeah.

Incorrect I'm afraid.
