Whilst catching up on the weekend European results and subsequent tables i noticed that Ajax have scored 89 goals this season so far and only conceded 19.

 

Martin Jol really has got them playing well and I reckon they might pip Twente for the title by the looks of it.

I'd have Jol, to be honest. It'd make my life's ambition of having a pint with Martin Jol a bit more realistic.

The Dutch league is usually the highest scoring league in Europe. Kuyt averaged about 30 league goals a season there.

89 goals is phenomenal when you consider they've only let 19 in.

 

19 conceded suggests keeping it tight but the 89 just shows you can attack as a best form of defence.

I watched that game yesterday and it confirmed what I already knew. THe Dutch league is nowhere near as good as it used to be.

 

There's three or four half decent teams and the rest are absolute rubbish. I'd back myself to get to double figures for Ajax.

The top scorer in the Dutch league normally gets 30-35 league goals. Plenty of those top scorers then moved to decent leagues, only RVN got anywhere near the same goal scoring rate.

I was talking about recently, Bergkamp didn't score many anyway. Alves scored over 30, he's doing well now isn't he? Kezman? Huntelaar, Jan Venegoor? Kuyt?

They struggled yesterday at ADO, even when ADO had to put an outfield player in goal after their sub keeper was sent off. Ajax didn't test him until 3-4 minutes into SEVEN minutes of stoppage time, when an Ajax player finally decided to shoot on target. He did however make a couple of decent saves straight after.

 

Ajax have become more solid as the season's gone on, so had they started in the same vain, they could well have been top themselves. It is however, FC Twente's title to lose.

Was just about to post something similar. I've tried watching a few games on ESPN but the quality equates to the Scottish Premier Division.

 

Suarez looks a promising player, but I'll reserve full judgement until he moves to a competitive league this summer.

I regularly watch Ajax and I think they're a decent side with some good players. I also think that they would struggle to make the top half of the Premier league.

I saw him interviewed at the weekend and to his credit he didn't pretend to be remotely pleased to be managing in the Dutch league. He also had a dig about Comolli, so you can save yourself some emotional energy by crossing him off your list.
