“As a captain with the team, John Terry has displayed extremely positive behaviour. However, I have to take into account other considerations and what is best for all of the England squad.

 

“What is best for all of the England team has inspired my choice.

“When I chose John Terry as captain, I also selected a vice-captain and also named a third choice. There is no reason to change this decision.

Well the message is clear from the FA, they really do see the England captain as a role model and as such believe cheating on your wife is a definite no no but dodging mandatory drug tests is ok.

 

Anyway I don't know why any Liverpool supporter would want Gerrard as captain of England, as it happens I'm indifferent to Ferdinand being appointed captain but would have been pissed off if it was Gerrard.
