Surely, if this itself isn’t an error, the German police have made a massive slip-up along the way which they can’t admit to at this stage? Sounds very odd for them to be playing it like that otherwise.
 

It’s not like the parents will let the cat out of the bag if they’re told what the police know privately. They would be the least likely people to jeopardise the chance of a conviction by saving something out of turn.

I find all this very weird. And why the fuck would you write to them with this type of information? Would you not send an officer or relay it through the British police on this case and let them pass the message on face to face? And they know for sure she's dead, except they clearly don't!

I suspect they have a photo.  Pure speculation but it would provide definitive proof she’s is dead, he might not be in it so it wouldn’t necessarily be proof he did it, and it may show clues to where she was killed/buried so they don’t want to publish it until they’ve searched or identified the area. It may even show other people so they don’t want to spook them. 
 

Can we all spare a thought for TK?  He’s the real victim here.
