Southampton (H) - FA Cup 5th Rnd - Wed 28th Feb 2024 (8:00pm)

Well that was a satisfactory evening!

Southampton were moving the ball around very well early on, and some of our lads were being outmatched physically. We stayed in the game early on because Southampton were so profligate and often made the wrong decisions with the final pass or shot.

Great for Koumas to mark his debut with a goal, and it came about though clever movement and quick interplay which hadn't otherwise been in evidence as we struggled to work Southampton out as well as work out what we were supposed to be doing in that first half.

Other than the very early chance for Southampton in the second half (again wasted), we started to get a real grip on the game and moved the ball a lot quicker, particularly out wide. Ibou was utterly dominant at the back, Harvey started to get on the ball more, and Conor was getting space out wide.

Take a bow Danns! Not 1 but 2 goals, and both very well taken, especially the first which was such a classy finish.

Instead of playing Forest away twice in a fortnight, we'll be up against the Mancs at their place twice in a fortnight.

One last thing. I believe Ally McCoist needs to stop talking, I really do!

Lovely suit on Wrighty. Some kind of heavy linen, or perhaps a hemp mix?

That is indeed a nice suit.

EDIT: Also liked his leather Mongol warrior hat from the other week.

Good 2nd goal from Danns, mad to see him get another so quickly and am already wondering if he'll get to play some of the game against Utd too. Also glad we got another clean sheet even if we had some more luck with that one that hit the post. It's brilliant not to have that uneasy feeling about our backup keeper as well now after Kelleher has played so well recently.

Russell Martin a bit salty there, particularly with the kids question.

Yes! Asshole.

One of that new breed of smug gobshites in Championship management. Reminds me of that Welsh weirdo that Southampton had previously.

Nathan Jones, fucking God bothering prick.

Charlton must have a death wish. They sacked perennial useless gobshite Michael Appleton finally, and then replaced him with Jones cunt, insane.
