It would have been common assault by beating even if the egg was just thrown. The words 'by beating' are used to distinguish between the two types of common assault - one involving some form of physical assault, and the other involving a perceived immediate assault where there is no physical assault.

Agree with your assessment of the media though. It was only a matter of time before this happened.

Noted, thank you. I fear it’s just a matter of time now.

The trivialisation of the attack is nothing short of shameful.

Yep. If it was the dusty binbag it would be all over the world being called "Lefty Loon tries to behead Theresa May, he also wore a Hugo Boss suit and is on benefits"

Terrible if he was punched.  We should find out when the bloke is in court.  Although his charge doesn’t seem to reflect a very hard punch.  Unless JC has a jaw like Mike Tyson.

Imagine if if he’d had a knife, imagine if he’d had a thermonuclear bomb!

Laura Murray, who works for Corbyn seems to have deleted her Twitter account after libelling RR.  Not a good look for him is it?

Deleting her Twitter account hasn't saved her, RR is suing for libel.

In other news, I'm convinced that Rachel Riley is mentally ill. It's quite distressing to see. She's now defaming Laura Murray by falsely claiming that Murray called her "dangerous and stupid" for calling out antisemitism, when Murray did no such thing.

I expect Murray will probably let Riley's slurs slide as she's not as litigious, nor does she revel in a sense of victimhood, unlike the Riley mentalist.
