Best way to look at it for me is that anyone signed under Hodgson was Hodgson/Comolli, anyone under Kenny was Kenny/Comolli and anyone under Rodgers is Rodgers/committee.

Comolli was shit so we got rid.

I agree a bit. The odd time he has played in midfield though it's been in one of the pressing roles rather than as a defensive midfielder. If he could sit there protecting the defence and then picking his time to go forward it should work.

Sort of like what he does now but further up the pitch having more impact on the game.

Bundesliga isn't exactly Brasileirao though, is it? It's a pretty similar similar league to ours.

 

I'm not disagreeing with your reservations about his fitness, but I'd have hoped a scout would have noticed this stuff before we signed him. We aren't going to play three at the back long term, I fucking hope not anyway, so Can will be playing in midfield.

Agree with this.  Also his agility.  I think his best position is likely to be in defence or in a Lucas-type ultra deep midfield role.

Im not sure Can has the fitness to play in midfield.

Maybe not at the moment, he's been playing as a defender which is a different level of fitness needed compared to Midfield. if he gets asked to play midfield he's gonna struggle as he's not used to it. Any young lad coming from a different League would struggle to adjust to the demands of playing in the Mid over here, even more so if he's only gonna play a handful of games there. Fitness/stamina can improve if you live right & the more you do something. He's hardly gonna pick up the pace & set the World alight in the 5 or 6 (?) starts he's had there.I'm not fit enough to run a Marathon, give me 6 months & I'll be ready for 1 though.

Especially if we're playing 3 of them as standard, it means you ideally need at least 5.

 

It makes no sense to ditch him or Lucas.
