Catastratunity

A gem from The Bugle to describe how vulture capitalists see something like a hurricane.

The Bugle, my arse, "Catastratunity" (sic) has been a staple on Nickolodeon for years.  Still, "listening to The Bugle" is way more hip than, "watching re-runs of Penguins of Madagascar on Nick at Nite", right?

Authentification.

I accidentally used this word in a presentation I wrote when tired instead of authentication. As I am the only native English speaker in the company, people have presumed it is correct and started using it.

Do I tell them I fucked up or should I just hope it eventually becomes a real word due to usage?

It'll be in some american dictionary somewhere.  Alongside, logicalize and such like.  Don't sweat it.

Got a word of the day widget on the MacBook. Today's word fair knocked us sideways:

Nonce is used a lot in an I.T context to mean 'a number used once'.

You can end up with some great articles.  Wordpress Nonces.  Verifying a Nonce.  Creating Nonces.  Modifying a Nonce's lifetime.

When in your motion you are hot and dry

As make your bouts more violent to that end

And that he calls for drink, I'll have prepar'd him

A chalice for the nonce, whereon but sipping,

If he by chance escape your venom'd stuck,

Our purpose may hold there. But stay, what noise?

Strange mate, I work in IT, have never come across it in that context, but i'm not down with the developers and programmers - but can see there being a few nonces amongst those I have met.
