It really isn't just about not having Suarez. We were playing with 3-5-2 with wing backs and it was ugly. Johnson was lost defensively and didn't get up enough. Lucas and Spearing generally played the ball nicely in the middle but without the movement (other than Maxi) they didn't have many options to play up the field, so the play was slow and flat and basically we haven't gotten the ball into Carroll at all. Bellamy and Maxi both showed their quality at times but at others were wasteful or greedy.

It really doesn't matter what the system is. We've tried a couple of different systems without Suarez in the team and we've looked no better than Wolves. I haven't watched tonight so I can't comment on it, but its the same old story when Suarez isn't available, we look clueless and our passing is pedestrian.

Andy Carroll is just gonna be a liabilty if he keeps this up. Been really poor again.

He has been a liability since we bought him, bar that Man City game.

He is woeful.

It's a fucking friendly, you mings.

Right, and you were probably one of the many in pre-season quacking on about 'it's all about fitness, who cares about the result' as we conceded goal after goal, our midfield struggled, and our attack looked toothless.

Which is pretty much how we have played so far this season, and we are more reliant on Gerrard and Suarez as we ever were with Gerrard and Torres.

Not another game-changing matchwinner to be seen, despite 70m spent.

Happy days.

Genuinely couldn't give two shiny shites.

I doubt any of the players do either. Ask any professional footballer their opinions of friendlies and I'll bet that about 95% of them give the same reaction.
