Quad, man!!!

For the State you needed to be smart. What, straight from the match / pub? Hated it. And hated Cream.

Legends in Warrington. Shelly's. Hacienda was good, I don't care what anybody says.

Oh, and the Docker's Club on Townsend Lane...

I used to work in the State - and Kirklands too (in the 80s). There was this club upstairs from Kirklands whose name I've completely forgotten. It was full of Jamaicans and some very, very tasty women. I used to help out after the Kirklands shifts; first thing they told you was to pull the shutters down on the bar if you saw a knife. Never did mind, but still remember how much I was shitting myself the first few times I was in there

Too many great nights in Club Asia & Yellow in Tokyo a few years back

Space & Mansion in Miami

But overall, & certainly now at my age , Pacha, Ibiza is my overall favourite.

I thought Mansion was a bit shit, I was absolutely slaughtered whenever I went there, though. The best clubs I went to in Miami were Karu N Y and Liv. Karu N Y gets my vote because I was once there when a porn convention/playboy party was in full swing, and Liv gets my vote because I saw P Diddy in the DJ booth and subtly poured beer on him from one of the balconies overhead.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned Bowlers.

Bowlers is on Trafford Park and now sadly spends its days as a computer fair. However, in it's heyday it was a leisure centre during the week and on a Saturday it became the place where my best clubbing memories are held dear. 5000 capacity which was always not far off every Saturday. Life @ Bowlers was fantastic. Great dance music (piano stuff :)) and an amazing atmosphere whereby you never felt threatened. E's must've been great back then.

I know it's an overused cliche but you felt like everyone in there was your friend. Pretty amazing to see Scousers and Mancs dancing together.

In the early 90s Fantazia did a night there and brought along legends such as Carl Cox and the like.

Sadly, it had to come to an end and Life went bust in late 1997. After that, smaller promoters came in and it was never the same. Trouble plagued the venue and after a stint by the Hardcore organisation Helter Skelter Bowlers finally shut its doors to clubbers after a young lad died from Ecstasy on the dancefloor.

Bowlers will always be my legendary club.

There are loads of Old Skool nights around the North West and Yorkshire which are heavily influenced by Bowlers or Life. Just goes to show how big it really was.

Golden/The void is a good shout by Paul, I was going in the late 90's early 00's, only quite small but had some belting nights in there. Is it still going?

Anybody go to Gods Kitchen/Sanctuary? Was a good night in there.

I used to go to the Sanctuary most weeks as our Uni's sports socials were held there every Wednesday.

I went to Gods Kitchen a few times when it kicked off years back. It was never a favourite of mine though. I just didn't take to it.

I would add to my earlier post. The Que club in Birmingham was a good venue, went to some good all nighters there. Also the last time I did any serious clubbing was in Fabric a few years back, massive venue that really enjoyed myself that night.

This sounds like a horrible place: 5,000 people in a club. The only reason it is on my radar is because whenever I'd see the odd scally gang driving round listening to thumping dance music for the benefit of pedestrians within a half-mile radius, I'd see that "Life@Bowlers" sticker on the back of their mobile disco / car.

I know I sound like a snob, but the age of these Super Clubs basically killed the scene.

It was spread out over 3 rooms plus the huge chillout room. It was never uncomfortable. Feel @ Preston Uni was horrendous. Great DJs, great music but you couldn't move.

Once I moved from the dance floor to the DJ box clubbing did change for me. You see things on a different level. Plus you spend all night listening to the mixing of other DJs. Not to mention I'm an old bastard now anyway.

I mean it just become less grubby. I loved the grubbiness of acid house. Little sweating clubs gave way to these huge, heavily promoted corporate things that attracted people like footballers. No, nay, never. Jamie Redknapp belonged in my Saturday afternoon, not my Saturday night.

Legends in Warrington (yes, Warrington) will never be beaten.

Definately!

The more basic the surroundings the more of an experience it is. The clubs that hang out all the bunting so to speak, with the flash decor, champagne and so on only attract people who feel the need to look down their nose at you. That kind of clubber and club is what has taken the, shall we say, proper club out of its origins and created these awful super clubs, with snivelling little spotty bastards as managers.

I know I'm going to be in a vast minority of the people who go clubbing off these forums, but this is why I believe clubs like The Pleasure Rooms (is it still open?), Wigan Pier and all them are great. They've kept a part of the old clubbing culture alive instead of moving along with this trendy revolution. I just wish they were filled with happy people instead of angry kids.
