they used to do huge cans of Faxe. they were brilliant. the cans looked even bigger in the hands of my housemate 'beadlehands' (named for his unusually small hands of course)

Yeah, they were 1 litre cans weren't they?

No, that was Arsenal's John Jensen.

They still call him it.

Must be getting confused, coulda swore I read that about big Jan, but now you mention Jensen that definitely rings a bell. He was pretty fond of the party lifestyle in his day though, and I'm sure he enjoyed the occasional Faxe being a Dane and all.

Tuborg can vary in this country though. There is a really nice 4.6% version, but be wary of the vastly inferior 4.2% one.

I got the same set as Cain for my birthday although instead of SunLik I got a Brazilian beer that I haven't had before called...fuck I forgot, it has a blue label and began with P.

Can anyone name any French beers? Most that you think are French are actually Belgian. There are some French beers, but not that most people will have heard of.

The 4.6% would most likely be Danish brewed. Most, if not all, normal danish lagers would be 4.6%. 4.0%, 4.2% etc. would the the stuff that is brewed abroad.

I like lager. There's a time and place for it. Mainly when it's hot & sweaty but generally it tastes like piss and is aimed at gays and kids with underdeeveloped tastew buds.

Exception being when youy're abroad. San Miguel, Tiger, Singha, Beerlao, Budvar...mmmm

Good stuff

We should turn this thread into a large list of beers by country so that we know about as many beers as possible. When at uni we collected as many different beers as we could from differing countries, a top hhhhhhhhhobby. Preferably each beer should get a rating too.

Add to the list:

Australia

  • Fosters - 1/5 horendi
  • Emu
  • Castlemaine XXXX - 1/5
  • Tooheys
  • Victoria Bitter - 3.5/5

Jamaica

  • Carib - 3.5/5 like Sol/Corona/Brahma
  • Red Stripe - 3.5/5
  • Jamaican Stout - 4.5/5
  • 3 Legends - 4/5
