My uncle reckoned it was because they were lefties, and the city itself had a special place in their hearts for that reason. Any ideas?

Roger Waters loves Liverpool, the city that is, because the majority is left leaning but also Liverpool just gets Floyd.

Still the most blinding gig I've ever seen. Was just like being on the Kop and totally pisses over every other gig before or since at the Echo Arena.

According to Comfortably Numb, Mark Blake's definitive biography of the band from a couple of years ago "the strumming guitars eventually fade to be replaced by the combined voices of Liverpool FC's 'Kop Choir' for a refrain of 'You'll Never Walk Alone'; an in-joke for the bassist, who was by then a committed Arsenal FC supporter."

I reckon it just suited the end of the song really well and they tacked it on, as it's pretty much in keeping with the theme.

I red an article a long time ago about the relationship between Pink Floyd and Liverpool.

No other city came close to have the same connection as those two parties had etc. Alot of it was about the relationship of the album Animals and the people of Liverpool. Something about Liverpool had hundreds of grafitti slogans of quotes/lyrics from the album songs all over the city.

Allegedly they'd heard of the Halewood Pink Floyd Pot Herb Society and decided the addition may lead to an extra few sales in the area. Pigs might Fly is a great book on Floyd written after the Live 8 get together, proper good fucking book with loads of in-depth shit about the politics and music, and Back Catalogue is a poster for any bathroom
