would you have someone like kuyt in your team?

Maradona was at the game on Saturday. If ability is the number one prerequisite, let's sign him and put him in central midfield.

Alright then if ability isn't a number one prerequisite lets kick gerrard out the team and play Lucas more often. That is a silly statement. At the end of the day kuyt does not do enough to justify the amount of starts he gets, would he get this many games in United's team or Chelsea's team or any other top team in Europe?

He does a decent job on the right and chips in with a few goals from there.

He's probably proven more effective than Benayoun in that position and I'm about as convinced by Babel as Rafa is.

From the current Liverpool squad, Gerrard would be the only player I'd happily pick ahead of Kuyt for right midfield.

If it's a choice between Kuyt, Benayoun or Babel for that position, at the minute I pick Kuyt.

That's about right.

there is a clear distinction of whether you think he should be in the team (liverpool) and whether you would have him in YOUR team which is my question. whether you think kuyt should be starting for liverpool has been done to death this a personal question which is more if you became a manager would you make room for a kuyt like 'player' i.e. someone who would give you more graft and heart than skill and craft. should have made that clearer.

In that case no, I wouldn't really have grafters in attacking positions unless they had a lot of talent like tevez or torres for instance. I'd have a grafter like mascherano in the center of midfield but around the box I would like players with a lot more pace, skill, flair, control, creativity and goal threat than kuyt.

I don't think it is possible to have a squad of worldbeaters who are all specialists in their own position.( It's bad enough trying to get any 2 world-class strikers to play together without their egos becoming a problem.

An ideal team for me has a good sprinkling of world class talent & the worker bees who spread the work ethic , will help the team out wherever needed , and cause the manager/coach no headaches .

The world-class players need to be mainly in the more important positions ( right down the middle ).

This was the basic make up of the best Liverpool teams.

So yes , players like Dirk are important. ( on the right )

Kuyt can play in a few positions, always gives 100%, never stops trying and is an example to many on what it means to play for this club. He is a good player and a good person to have in their sqaud. He wouldn't be in my first team if everyone is fit but he would always be in my match day squad and is definitely not as bad as people are making out.

I'd only have him if I couldn't find anyone to the job I wanted better. I want someone with a good first touch, a goal instinct and a little bit of pace, if I couldn't find that person then I'd turn to Dirk.

That seems to be what is happening.

In a team I was building , he'd cost about 20m to prise him away from Rafa, I'd have to say no. In this current Liverpool side , though, he is invaluable and one of my first names on the sheet. On merit.

20 Million! ha ha! you could get loads of better player for that price.

For what its worth i think Kuyt will be gone in the summer with the signing of Heskey and the probable signing of a first choice RM player the need for a player like Kuyt wouldnt be so great

Heskey would give you work rate when he plays and the addition of the new RMidfielders imput, would give you the threat from the right

With the wide players like Anderson and Hammil either given a chance in the squad or sold that should give the manager enough options and allow for the sale of Kuyt Benayoun and Pennant to bring in the player for the right

Then there is Babel who will either have establised himself in the Team/Squad or be on his way while his price is high

Ins

Kun

Walcott

Heskey

Barry

Outs

Kuyt

Pennant

Benayoun

Vorrinin

possibles

Keane

Alonso

Agger

Babel

These players have a choice to make, comit to Liverpool or be replaced im not saying all of these will come off that would be stupid but Rafa knows what he wants and either way come the end of the season will want a major overhall of the team

Kuyt would not be a regular starter in my Liverpool first team. I would play Gerrard on the right, assuming Keane and Torres had a good run to establish a proper partnership, or else I would play Gerrard behind Torres and try Babel on the right in a run of games.

Dirk is worthy of a squad place, though if the likes of Jol offered £12M+ for him (and he was rumoured to be interested a while ago) then I wouldn't be opposed to selling him.
