wow, just...wow

just how highly does rafa rate barry that he's prepared to sell all but the major players to secure the move:wow:

there are a few players who not many would mind ever play for us again, the problem is when they're sold off... who do we sell next year? the fans favourites will start going, bit like Arsenal I think

Why is that a problem? I think it is a good thing that if we sell "any" player next summer, some fans will be disappointed. It will just show how strong we are squad wise. It wasn't long ago that we were struggling to sell players and had to send them out on loan.

Selling and buying players is a never ending process. Whether the fans like it or not.

the point im making is unless we get new owners Masher and Torres represents our future transfer budget etc

Players get homesick, players get greedy, they go through loss of form over a long period of time, players may want to go to Madrid or Barcelona or Milan. It happens.

If Torres or Mascherano go through one of the above, they will be sold.

I think barry would be a good player for us but Rafa seems to be absolutely desperate to get him.

There must be other options out there for the same price or less.

I don't think that's an option or rafa would have done it by now.

well if voronin, pennant and yossi are sold rafa will HAVE to get someone in.

think you'll find they could go because it's the only way to have a future transfer budget (or worse to pay debts) and not for any other reason mentioned i.e Alonso says he is happy at Liverpool but being shopped around

Think that's more to do with how Rafa feels about Alonso, not a reflection on the club's finances.

I really don't understand what you are trying to say.

If Torres is still banging in the goals after 2 years, why would we sell him to bring in another striker? We won't sell and buy just for the sake of it.

Same goes for Mascherano. If he is still happy to play for us and is still ruling the midfield, why would we sell him?

You are talking about a scenario where we have 15 or more top class players, who are all very happy to play for the club and are playing top notch football week in week out. If this is the case, we will be winning the whole lot and won't need to sell any or buy any just for the sake of it.

You have brought in the Alonso example - yes, I like him and many fans like him. But the truth is, his form has dipped for more than 2 years now.

the club and its administrators might deem it prudent to flog Torres for £60m and buy another striker for a third of that price. the reality will hit sooner or later

That is totally different to what you said earlier.

As I said, I don't understand what you are trying to say. For that reason, I'm out.

"Andriy Voronin is said to be on the chopping-block as Rafa Benitez looks to fund his £18million move for Aston Villa’s Gareth Barry.

According to The Independent, a host of German clubs are in the hunt for the Ukraine hitman as he is still a higly-regarded player after 12 years in the Bundesliga before making his Liverpool move last summer.

Benitez is said to be looking to recieve £6million for the man he signed on a free."

If he does get that then he should resign. Not because he'll have done a bad job but because there is no possible anyway any manager can ever top that deal.

Sir Rafael Benitez. I can see it now.

I'd do business for Dirk at around £12-13m but not to pay for Barry.

To pay for a specialist ATM, a trequartista, wide player etc

Not a converted no 9, albeit one with the heart of a lion, an obedient player and excellent pro and chap.
