Few bands did nihilism quite as well as the Manics.

Never ever wanted to be with you, the only thing you gave me was the boredom I suffocate in...

I laughed when lennon got shot, 21 years of living and nothing means anything to me.

Have been linking quite a bit of The Prodigy lately, will finish for now with an all time favourite tune. This would fit easily into the top 10 tunes that I've ever heard, and maybe even top 5 :

The Prodigy - Break and Enter

It's fucking genius that is RP. From the jilted album if I remember correctly?

Yep, amazing album and tune, have never heard anything like either since that was made. It's maybe why The Prodigy get so much stick at times, because they're being compared to that album with what they do now and it's almost impossible to follow. You'd probably have to be a serious fucking genius to go better than what was done there. A timeless and classic album really. Kind of makes me sad at times that nobody (that we know of anyway.) even comes close nowadays.

Said I'd stop posting Prodigy tunes, that was before I found out they'd posted their full new album on youtube days ago. This is my favourite, for some reason I posted Beyond The Deathray first, I guess I love that almost equally.

The Prodigy - Destroy

Had a weird experience this week.

Wife tells me her cousin is in a successful band and we are going to see them in concert in a few weeks.  "Oh, no," I think.  "This is going to be terrible."  (Was there ever a harbinger of a worse musical experience than finding out your wife's cousin is in the band?)  So off I venture to youtube to find out more about this band and listen to a few of their tunes so I can find out exactly how much I'm going to hate this upcoming evening.

And lo and behold, they're brilliant:

So now I'm actually looking forward to it.

Queens Of The Stone Age - First It Giveth

One of my all time favourite drumming performances on this. No big solo stuff, just love the rhythm and the way that the drums are mixed into the track.

Actually, listening to that, the way that each musician is so balanced in the mix and it's also so heavy, I think that entire tune is almost perfect. Really well produced, the album as a whole, too.
