"The VAR team then gave consideration as to whether the game could be stopped at that point.

"However, the VAR and AVAR concluded that the VAR protocol within the Laws of the Game would not permit that to happen, and they decided intervention was not possible as play had restarted."

The entire point of VAR is not to referee the game, the on field official does that. Therefore the onfield official should have been told about the "human error" and it was his decision to make, not theirs. It is comlete bollocks.

Last night they said the VAR room thought the ref gave the goal and thats why they were so fast with the lines because the VAR room got it "right". but in that video this idiot VAR ref is saying offside goal.

Yeah that makes no sense. When the game was restarted they were all happy for it to crack on except one voice. The others were all doing a passable impression of that taxi driver who was asked to do a BBC interview. Its seems pretty clear that despite the evidence in front of their eyes, they thought it was offside.

LFC this week: VAR is being run terribly and is killing the game. Something needs to be done about it.

Everyone on social media etc this week: Stop crying FFS and just get on with it....

I'm in a WhatsApp group with a mixture of football fans from other clubs and the feeling is that smaller clubs wouldn't get as much attention if they'd called this out.

Can only guess that the VAR was not even watching. First he doesn't see during the incident either the offside being flagged on the pitch or on the screen, and then he doesn't see Tottenham restarting with a free kick.  Where the fuck was he looking?

I think it's been mentioned before, but why didn't Sky make a bigger deal of it at half time as well? Such a clear and obvious fuck up would usually get them revelling in the controversy. Barely a squeak. Why? Nothing about this stacks up at all. And the way the wagons got circled pretty sharpish is suspicious as fuck

Fuck me there's a lot to get through in a 90 second clip.

7 seconds: assistant 2, give it.

Sorry give what, he's the lino on the other side 80 yards from Mo and whatever holding was going on and 60 yards from Diaz. What's it got to with him?

30 seconds: there are people in the background chatting and giggling.  Who are they and where are they?

86 seconds: Dopey England calls to Michael Oliver, who answers saying, yes, England doesn't continue the conversation. Why? He clearly can't comprehend that there are more than 1 Oli in the world.

To be fair, they likely didn’t think it was the most controversial moment of the half!

They showed 2 goals and the red card first. They then showed the offside before the 2nd half restarted.

The speed at which the check was over, everybody was suspicious of it. It didn’t feel right from the offset.

I don't understand why they didn't said check complete, onside, instead of just check complete. So stupid

I’m sure others will have said this, but why can’t they talk in clear English to each other, like. Rugby TMO ?

ref initiates, statement of on pitch situation

‘we’ve got offside here, can you check’

VAR repeats back o both parties clear on the ask

‘ so goal scored, but flagged offside, checking’

VAR then confirms what they’ve seen ‘ player onside, you can reverse decision, player onside, you can award the goal’

Ref confirms ‘ so player onside, gol to be awarded’

its not difficult …

This demonstrates just how inept officials are.

They've been shit for years.

They're shit all the time.

People ignore it, because it mostly happens to rival teams. Which is funny.

No one really realised just how shit they were.

This lifts the lid. They are not 'detail' people. They are fucking inept. It's hard to be this inept and keep your job.

But the PL close ranks on the shitness. Instead of fixing it, they make it a fineable offence to criticise the shitness.
