And so the ebb tide of another season disappeared towards the horizon, the crowd seeping out of the exits as draining rock pools. They will return. Apart from Carra. A true legend, and for whom the day was a fitting tribute. Now only Gerrard remains of the Old Guard, a totem of recent precious glory.

I cannot remember a less anticipated, or more quickly forgotten, game. On here the match thread opened barely a couple of hours before the game, after, even the factional banter seems pointless, a few pages a token gesture. The game meant nothing to us, and nothing to QPR. Not the Liverpool Way.

A one nil defeat of a relegated team is about all you can say about the game itself, apart from the promising development of Couts, a player destined to make quite an impact next season for both LFC, and the PL.Ibe did well in a low presure situation, if only Carra's thirty yarder had gone in.......

Rodgers looked satisfied, as well he should, His triumph, and FSG’s, is that he survived the season, starting to look like the man the dossier suggested. We finished higher and with more points than KK, a vindication of a rising star over a ring rusty champion? Or was KK’s eye for posterity with his LC win and FA Cup final triumph a little sharper. Who will remember who came 7th in years to come? Finishing below Everton and out of Europe are serious minuses on the Road to Recovery though, but at least King Brenny will be here to walk it.
