Honourable mentions to the rest of the team, but I thought the rearguard was especially impressive. I know a few will be annoyed by the way we almost gifted them a couple of goals, but I love that we're prepared to play ourselves out of trouble. Too many times in the past the hoof has been our only way out when pressured, Kenny is certainly encouraging us to play the ball out of defence:yes:

It is so pleasing the fact I could see any name on hear and I wouldn't care, as all the players were superb.

 

Personally:

 

1) Meireles - did so much running cloing down, sprinting to get in the box and support Kuyt, brilliant finish as well.

 

2) Lucas - He has improved so much and he broke up play time and time again. Showed composure on the ball and only lost it when his teammates gave him a hospital pass.

 

3) Kuyt - Held the ball up, superb movement, brilliant run for the goal and he ran his arse off.

 

Harsh on Carragher who was also brilliant. As was Kelly, Johnson (bar his body check on Ivanovic), Gerrard, Agger and Skrtel... Pepe also did what he had to as well.

 

I would say only Maxi had a disappointing game, with his miss and awful pass to Torres in the first half But saying that he did run a lot when he was on the field.

 

Great team performance. But really Kenny should be man of the match by winning the tactical battle.
