Simply because we'll see a different Liverpool. I hope Jones, Kelly, Babel, Pacheco, Meireles, Cole, Wilson all play and im hoping to see a bit of Shelvey and/or Spearing. Tonights match, and the Europa League in general gives fringe players and youngsters the chance to excel and give Hodgson something to think about. I really hope the attacking players do well to show we have players who can score and create, and that we dont have to play with this 2 sitting midfielders crap all the time.

Hodgson should be looking at the competition and thinking 'Lets attack'

I dont think tonights performance will have any effect on Sunday. The team tonight will be nothing like the one on Sunday, and thats why im looking forward to it! To see if the fringe players play well and score a few goals

That was almost a certainty anyway! You never know though, if Meireles does well enough it'd be pretty difficult to leave him out.

I'm failing to see at the moment exactly what Maxi brings to the team?? Know foreign imports take time to settle into the E.P.L but he's been here a little while now and not seen anything yet that gets me even slightly excited about his name appearing on the team-sheet!! Personally i'd rather see Kelly at right-back and Johnson pushed further on into the right-midfield position whilst Kuyt's out injured, but what do i know i'm just a humble fan ;)

Agree with you 100% there. And i also just cannot believe how Lucas gets picked every week. He will certainly start against the scum on Sunday.

Spearing?? Maxi??? Not for me. Pacheco has to start for me. Maxi was abismel against Birmingham, didnt Roy say he was gonna give the youngsters a chance in this and the carling cup. I'd like to see Amoo come in aswell after that performance for the ressies the other nite. Same old story spearing should be sold to a championship club, IMO.

Liverpool went into a game with Birmingham playing for a draw with all but one first team stars fully fit!

I'd like to see Poulsen with Meireles. But, personally I can see Hodgson saving Meireles for Sunday.
