I really want to keep Milner, BTW. He adds that experience and mature vibe, but he’s also still useful. He was brilliant last night. Brilliant.

Yes it seemed he’d been out of favour early in the season but he’s had some good games lately. Like you say it’s the maturity that helps.

Might actually have found a club that would take Mignolet, their keeper was laughably bad!

Salah's goal was immense.  Great composure from a top finisher.

It was crazy watching that, then the camera scans their bench and there is the great Iker Casillas looking predictably glum.

He did better than okay, I thought he was fantastic. Usually, refs follow the rule of giving everything to the home side regardless of whether it's a foul or not. The ground kicks up a minimal degree of fuss, the ref gets very little abuse and the away team expect that sort of treatment anyway.

He reffed a game fairly, giving both sides a fair shake and - as you say - allowed the game to flow without letting it get out of hand. It feels like an alien concept when you watch the Premier League refs every week.

If we've seen Real Madrid's 'penalty' then I'm not sure all refs are of an elite standard in the CL. The difference between that decision and our ref's performance are bound to throw in accusations of dodgy dealings. Let's not forget Jon Moss' awful performance against Spurs either to add to the refereeing inconsistencies that go on.

I said at the start of the season that an English team would win it this year.

It feels like we've gone back to the years of English premier league clubs dominating the champions league with the amount of money in the league and the quality of the managers.

At least four Premier League teams will be in the quarter finals, I've got a bad feeling we will get Man City.

I bet you FFP makes a strong come back soon if English clubs start dominating again

Apparently Gerrard said something on BT's coverage last night that seemed to confirm Can's departure.

Would he really be that big a loss anyway? He's put in a decent shift of late, but our transitions last night were much quicker without him there. Wijnaldum was on fire.

I like Can, but there’s absolutely a chance we can upgrade on him. Certainly someone more consistent.

If Wijnaldum played every game like he played last night and against City he would be a massive upgrade on Can imo. Hopefully he's realised playing like the Invisible Man isn't a great idea.

With Keita coming in the number one thing we need for midfield is someone who is fucking excellent at creating chances from deep and supporting the play. If we someone a bit like Xabi in there, perhaps a bit more mobile, we'd be fucking excellent. No idea who that is like. Maybe Weigl could do that for us.

Predictably, there have been more reports of Porto being poor than Liverpool being excellent.

I wonder how many more times it has to happen before people realize the two are not unrelated.

Fuck 'em.

We'll beat Barcelona 8-1 in the final and they can try and just say Barcelona are shit if they want.
