There's no way he could of anticipated the Chelsea reaction.

But he just has to try and turn it into something that makes him look clever.

All it's done is make people think that he believes Steven Gerrard's farewell tour is more important than three points.

Regardless of anything else, he's a bad, bad dickhead for coming out with that shite.

Are people really suggesting that Rodgers brought Gerrard off just to get him a round of applause?

If so, wouldn't he just take him off on 89 minutes?

Maybe he took him off as he's in his mid 30's and because Chelsea were winning the midfield again, so he wanted a bit more of athleticism in there, to allow others to go forward without leaving gaps etc?

Rodgers asked why he subbed Gerrard. (in the 79th minute)  “Just purely, as I said, Stevie, he’s worked brilliantly and it was more just to give him the acclaim of probably his last time playing here at Stamford Bridge and it was a great reaction by the Chelsea supporters to him, so, he was outstanding, got his goal, and a real general he’s been for the team today."

"Outstanding" in all 36 prem games this season. And takes off Gerrard who has already scored and a matchwinner for a defensive mid in a game we are drawing and need to win.

And then says it was so the Chelsea fans could applaud him........

Jesus wept.

Maybe he just forgot we needed three points to still be in with a chance of the CL qualifiers, I mean that could be the reason.

Because it was a shit or bust game where we could have taken advantage of maybe some of the chelsea players being a little off form after a week celebrating.

The kind of game where you send everyone up at the end because quite frankly a draw was as good as a loss.

Why as a manager of any football team you'd not have winning as your priority is beyond any understanding.

See what you started Tony?

Why the fuck does it matter it was Stevie last game at that plastic fucking shithouse, and why would it matter him getting 'acclaim' from the Shithouses that go there?

Rodgers makes it very hard to back him when he talks such fucking shite.

Spot on, it's not hard to work out that Rodgers was being kind to Gerrard with those comments instead of saying he was not contributing at that stage of the game well enough.

It was a clear tactical move to cover us on the counterattack, fans were anticipating a bad performance and since they didn't get that they want to find something else to criticise Rodgers for.

If anything, I was more disturbed by Rodgers unwillingness to concede fourth place, as I thought that'd give more ammo to the imbeciles who disect his every word.

Look, when jermainepennant agrees with you it's time to question yourself.

Then why not just say that then?

He can't can he because his fucking ego won't allow it.

And now he's made himself look like a loser who'd lost interest even before the game.
