Who do the fans of the Stars love to hate? Who would be the local sports fans' least-liked figure of all time? That's the premise behind the March Menace Tournament on SportsDayDFW.com.

 

Through your votes, you can help us determine the sports figure that is Public Enemy No. 1 of the fans of the Stars, and the one person area sports lovers of all the local teams love to hate the most.

 

We have seeded eight menaces for each of D-FW's big four pro teams, and it's up for you to tell us the one in each of our matchups that you love to hate more. By April 20, we will have the biggest menace in D-FW sports.

 

Monday's matchup pits former Stars owner Tom Hicks with former player Jeremy Roenick. Which hockey personality do you love to hate more? Here are the arguments for each:

 

Stars owner Tom Hicks (No. 2 seed, Stars bracket): It’s unfair he’s one of the most hated men to Stars fans, because he really was a huge part of the seven division championships and seven 100-point seasons. However, he ran out of money, didn’t unload the team when he should have and left them in their current financial mess. And that is enough for most Stars fans to put him near the top of their hate lists.

 

Jeremy Roenick (No. 4 seed, Stars bracket): He didn’t issue the challenge, 'Why don’t you do something about it!' but he was a part of the squawking that came from the Phoenix Coyotes in 1999 when the Stars complained about his hit on Mike Modano . So when Derian Hatcher lined him up and broke his jaw with a thundering hit a couple of days later, not many Stars fans shed a tear.

Semi final, if I'm reading it right. I hope he turns up in a hockey mask and beats the shit out of himself with a baseball bat.

I can't find a way to vote and support our old friend either but I have every faith in his ability to deliver the championship. Putting him in that tournament is like putting Barcelona in the Conference.
