Seems to be touted at clubs for fuck all at the moment.

When he was with us, it wasn't exactly breathtaking but there were moments when it looked alright.

Still only 30, he scores goals at all levels.

In a transfer window of little movement and class available, I think he represents terrific value for money for what he COULD achieve with someone like Kenny on his back. Kenny can, after all, be almost like a private tutor for Keane in that position.

My initial reaction was 'no way.'

But, the more I think about it the more unsure I am.

I'd be surprised if keane would consider such a move even though he went back to spurs.

I've never been a big fan of his and dont think he had a good partnership with Torres even when they did play together which wasnt very often.

Nah, not convinced by this at all.

To be fair, the country is ina recession and theres lot of pubs and clubs closing down ...Liverpool (The City not the Club) could do with the income boost

What sort of money are we talking?

£4m to West Ham being talked about in the gossips.

If he really is a reds fan, then he'd be the sort of person we want in the trenches, no?

In any case, for £4m it would be a negligble investment on a player who could still give us 4 years of top service if he's handled right by Kenny.

I think if he was called Djimi Pornwank then fans would be talking him up as an option, but because it's plain old Robbie Keane there isn't the same interest.

I'd rather chance £4m on Keane than £10m on Oxalde Chamberlain or whatever the fuck he's called. One is 30 years old and has over 200 career goals to his name, the other is 17 and has 6 career goals.

Was always under the impression that he basically never fitted into our team when we played 1 up front and that he was best utilised as a second striker in a 4-4-2 as he tended to be at Spurs. With us he was either back up to Torres, back up to Gerrard or shunted on the wing, and neither of those 3 were really suited to him.

In fact probably part of the reason he's gotten less playing time there since they started playing with van der Vaart supporting one striker, although I guess he's 3rd or 4th in the pecking order in terms of strikers there anyway now.

If we're going away from Roy's 4-4-2 then I'd say any striker we do go in for is going to have to be that hard-to-find balance of quality enough to do a job but willing to sit on the bench when Nando is fit and in form, and capable of playing up front on his own.

I think this is our problem, not just you but to many fans are looking for the short team option, Keane was a decent player but taking him back now at 30 is stupid. Yes you need a mix of experience but if we buy young quality players then we can build on that. We have been in decline for a couple of years now and we cant just bring players in and expect it to turn around. We need to build a solid base of youth and then attach that to our experienced players

I would prefair to go for Chamberlain(??) and nurture his talent over a 30 year old who never realy succeeded the first time around

Also in Keanes first ever season around the same age he only scored 11 goals in 45 App so Chamberlain could easly reach that.

Are you insane? His legs are going already and you're talking about him being here for 4 years?!

He's not very good, in a big decline and is 30. We've already got enough of these sort of players.

It depends where you want to be as a football club. Accept, what is now, a mediocre player like Robbie Keane and it means we are accepting the level we are now at/heading.

Demand better than the likes of a washed up Robbie Keane and we will be going places.

I was made up when we 1st signed him that we had got ourselves a great little player. 6months was enough to persuade me that he was on a downward slide. The time spent at Tottenham has increased this belief. For these reasons I would hope that we go nowhere near him whatsoever.

NB - Please note our position in the table. We are not going to be signing Luis Suarez anytime soon, nor are we going to sign Adebayour, or Aguero, or anyone of any real note. We are what we are, an average side playing shite football, in the bottom half of the table in mid-January.

Behave accordingly.

Robbie Keane would be an improvement on the current situation. He is 30, not fucking 33. His legs are gone? He didn't really have any to begin with, but if you want to see him in action recently then look at the goals he scored last season for Celtic. 16 goals in half a season. He won the Celtic fans player of the year for that.

YouTube - All Robbie Keane's Celtic Goals

The goal he scored at 5:30 was absolute genius, regardless of opposition.

Mentally he's always switched on around the box, and he uses all sides of his foot to score goals, he's just a natural finisher.

We don't need a super-quick striker, we've got one of those. We need a foil for a super-quick striker, someone who can turn shite into something a bit better. And people froth at the mouth thinking about Suarez for £18m, but for £4m we could get an older version of the same 'type' of player, who has 121 Premier League goals to his name who was still in his twenties 6 months ago.

What if Suarez can't cut it in this division? What if we don't improve and his head gets turned in the Summer? What if his family can't settle? What if he's Afonso Alves?

Why take the risk now? We're in a position where we need goals, and there looks to be a chance to get a player with goals galore in this division for fuck all money, who would not dent the cheque book if he flopped, who would not ask for £140,000 per week, who knows who Dalglish is and respects his and our history.

Sorry guys, if I was Kenny then I know who I'd prefer every day of the week. For the here and now, that is.

Come Summer, different story, we'll see where we are, what division we're in, who wants to stay and we'll take it from there.

Alright Robbie, how's life on that Spurs bench?
