Spain vs. Switzerland

I'm over it and I thoroughly enjoy watching him play from a neutral perspective. Just like I enjoyed watching that Sanchez fella for Chile earlier; great performance from him.

World Cup is all about superb individual performances.

Just differs from your stance on Rafa, that's all. People who were sad to see him go were told to forget about it and move on. Why is Xabi different? Personally I'll be keeping a close eye on the next part of Rafa's career and will watch Inter Milan when I can. From a neutral perspective, of course.

Even if Spain (or Brazil or anyone) had scored 7, there'd still be whingeing that the World Cup was shite and 'full of no-hopers who shouldn't be there', so I don't know what the optimum outcome to keep people happy would be. 3-1 with a couple of penalties and goal-line clearances?

The World cup in parts has been gash, but it's just strange seeing people re confirm that after games like todays, they've both been pretty decent including a shock upset and loads of attacking football by Chile, I fancy Uruguay to continue the trend tonight as well, play some really good stuff hopefully. Even the Brazil game last night was good, I really enjoyed it, watching teams like Korea take on world class sides is what it's all about.

He's not; I only responded to a smart-arse post to talk about him. I mentioned him in my summary of the game because I thought he was the best player on the pitch. That has nothing to do with his past for us, if Busquets had played like him today i'd have mentioned him as the stand-out player.

Do I miss Xabi and regret him not being here? Yes, but not enough to start making smart arse posts about it.

Onwards and upwards. This World Cup for me is about watching good players putting in top performances, not scoring points about previous arguments.

Uruguay will be fucking shit later, most negative team in the tournament.

Er, you obviously haven't seen many games me old mucker, I fancy Uruguay to score a couple tonight, South Africa could have been a few down in the first half of the opening fixture, they'll get punished tonight.

Right then Alan old bean, who is more negative? Perhaps I am indeed ill informed!

Oh Dear, Torres was woeful when he came on mile off the pace.

How bad was Villa then, he was more involved than him, didn't start and should have started on his own up top rather than alongside Villa who did nothing but a shot curled straight into the keepers arms in 90 minutes, he was a passenger when Nando came on.

Spain have a few decent individual performances, the Swiss, played as a team.

Sausage, chips, peas and gravy cured all my ills. (and I went to pub especially to see this.) Del Bosque : play more strikers.

How bad was Villa then

He had no service. They spent more time crossing than they did passing in the final third. Midfield : almost immaculate. Upfront : cross cross cross. They need to sort that out and fast.

and the rumours of Inestia's mental state

What's all that about?

France, Nigeria, Greece, Algeria, Slovenia, Serbia, Denmark, Japan, Honduras... to name a few!

France were just shit, I was asleep for Nigeria and skipped Algeria & Slovenia, Greece are fucking woeful, Japan were shit - possibly I'd agree with you, Honduras aren't good but they came forward and were under the cosh for most of the game, Denmark I might agree with.

There's a big difference between getting battered and being negative. Uruguay just bunkered in and parked the bus.

Great game although it's not fun watching the football team get beat by a workhorse team, hopefully Spain get their act together. Torres looks way off fitness and the rumours of Inestia's mental state showed it today.

Thought they were a bit predictable in the last 20mins and played into the Swiss hands by constantly crossing it.

As Brownie has said, there's been about ten teams equally or more so, keep the faith !

What would make you think from that though that Nando could have started that game ?, his touch was awful, Villa didn't impress and was anonymous after Nando came on, but he still played a fucking world class chest into his path for him to fuck up royally and he's still one of the best strikers in the world, to dismiss him a shite is ludicrous, unless you meant was shite.

Who has been battered in this tournament though? Australia and that's about it. Most of the games have been tight, with BOTH sides being negative as fuck.

Agree with that entirely, same for Nando though but him and Nando just dont pair up well for some reason and I thought Nando was the better option from the start, I dont reckon they'd have had this defeat if he'd have started, the Swiss are strong at the back and Nando would have been better.

FAIL!

Uruguay are nowhere near to being the most negative team in the tournament, Pat. No chance.

Maybe, still think he'd have had little to go on though. Maybe it was just one of those games, can't see Iniesta, Xavi and Silva having those problems again for another 90 mins.

The way some of you guys have been talking you would think we have been watching Kenny's 87 team for the past two decades. If you are the Swiss manager and you have to take on Spain what are you going to do. It is not like they did an Allaydyce and kicked lumps out of the opposition.

Come on, we can all surely appreciate a lesser team working as a team its not just the attacking side of the game we pay to watch.

I'm hoping the fact that it's the start of the second group games tonight, will inspire a bit of adventure from the teams, especially considering that South Africa and Uruguay both drew their opening games.

Two draws is really no good so please god let it be end-to-end.
