full backs only provide width cos we don't have the wide men who can do it instead

re: Carra - i would prefer to see him at rb to give Skrtel and Agger a chance to form a proper cb partnership

and no i do not really rate Arbeloa

bottom line is this: if there is a budget constraint i would rather improve the wings than the full backs

Carra cant do rb, as some one else potilely put it, fuck of! Or wise the fuck up.

Alejandro Mazzoni - Agent of Ezequiel Lavezzi: - “At this moment the situation is more difficult than [sporting director Pierpaolo] Marino is saying. The relationship between the player and the club is not good,” he said to Sky Sport 24.

“Lavezzi is so grateful to Naples and the Napoli fans. He wants to stay, especially for the supporters. However, it seems to me the club doesn’t want him anymore, as they are doing nothing to resolve the situation.”

The latest press reports indicate that Liverpool are the team most interested in acquiring the talented Argentine international.

“If there is an English team or two willing to pay around €21-22 million than Napoli should consider it. I can’t guarantee Lavezzi will be at Napoli after the holidays.

At this time, given the situation, he’s moving away from Naples with every passing moment. I’d say the chances are around 50 per cent."

This is just a classic Barry type situation where he obviously loves the fans and doesnt want to be seen to be engineering a move away himself

Serie A/Prem: Agent on Lavezzi future | Setanta

Lavezzi set for Liverpool switch?

by Robin Hackett , 30 May 2009 lavezzi_shirty.jpg

Liverpool target Ezequiel Lavezzi is the subject of a bid from a major English club, according to his agent.

Rafa Benitez has been strongly linked with a move for the Napoli striker, and the player’s agent, Alejandro Mazzoni, claimed earlier this month that The Reds had seen an offer rejected.

However, Mazzoni has now revealed that a fresh offer is on the table and, as the 24-year-old Argentina international is unhappy with the way he has been treated by club president Aurelio De Laurentiis, he has suggested that the deal may be likely to go through.

"His stay depends entirely on Napoli, but I think that the club is now intending to sell him," he told Radio Kiss Kiss.

“Napoli have not kept the promises they made to Lavezzi.

“I'm waiting for a call from [Napoli sporting director] Pierpaolo Marino about a meeting with the president, so it's a bit difficult for us to know what Napoli want.

“The last time I saw the director, I told him that there had been a bid from a foreign club for Lavezzi.

“The president, though, has not even responded.”

Asked if the offer was from Liverpool, he said: “I am not authorised to talk about it, but I can say that there was a genuine offer and Marino rejected it.

“What counts, though, is what happens with Napoli and, at the moment, we do not have any relationship with them at all.

“Marino had promised Lavezzi an improved contract, but we have not heard anything since.”

He added: “Today there is an offer for the player and I have the impression that the club wants to sell him.

“I would like to stress that Napoli are important to Lavezzi, but we are talking about an English club in the Champions League and, moreover, they are offering him three times what he earns now.

“Players are not slaves – they are people.”

I'm unsure about this, would prefer Tevez or Silva as their more big name players, Tevez proven in the prem and an Argentina international and Silva is pretty good as well and first choice for spain.

Not sure what to make of this Lavezzi fella.

FTR Silva would be my first choice by some distance but Lavezzi is the style of player we need more than Tevez but if you could have one of each that would give Rafa real options with an out and out attacking 442 with Gerrard and Mascher in the middle and then change to 4-2-3-1 for tough premiership games and Europe.

I think Rafa is going for this Lavezzi chap because he is a dead cert lookalike combo of tevez and heinze, with a bit of silva thrown in for good measure.

If i knew how to post photos properly, it would possibly add some substance to my point. Or not.

On a side note, from his youtube portfolio he does look like a very talented player, not dissimilar to tevez, but he hasn't been tainted by the dirtys

Anyone else concerned that we could be about to spunk (if this is all true of course and not his gobby agent) nearly £20m on Lavezzi, who is virtually unproven at the highest level?

If he's that good, why isn't anyone else in for him?

Don't trust our Italian scouts after the Doss transfer.

I don't really want Tevez, Lavezzi or Silva.

Think we should be looking for a top wide player, this rules out Tevez and Lavezzi, as they are strikers who can play wide, rather than specialised wide players.

Some might think that's Silva, but I'm not convinced by him and would rather we got a more direct player, rather than someone with guile Think we already have this option in Benayoun.

No bid for Lavezzi!!

Pierpaolo Marino: Napoli Not Interested In Liverpool Bids For Lavezzi

Napoli have responded to claims their star striker was heading for the exit door...

30 May 2009 09:33:53

Napoli sporting director Pierpaolo Marino insists he has have never received an offer from Liverpool for Lavezzi, and he has no intention of selling the hitman.

The Argentinean has been hotly tipped to make the move to the Premier League this summer and, according to reports, Liverpool are keen to land him.

Lavezzi's agent Alejandro Mazzoni claimed his client could be leaving the San Paolo for Anfield, but Marino has other ideas, contrary to opinions which have been expressed so far.

"I have never received offers from Liverpool, and we are not interested in receiving any," Marino told Il Corriere Dello Sport.

"I know the rules of the game, and I will not fall into the trap of commenting on something which doesn't exist.

"We have never thought about parting company with Lavezzi or [Marek] Hamsik."

Reports suggested Liverpool had made a bid for Lavezzi, only to have it turned down, but Marino's words imply that the Italian side have not been tempted by the Reds.

Lavezzi's Napoli future seems safe for now, but the speculation is likely to continue

That has to be the most annoying question in internet history. I thought Torres was good but he's obviously shite as it was only us and Man City bidding for him.

Oh and he's been linked with Chelsea and Juventus for ages if that makes you feel better.
