Summer 2023 Transfer Thread

In regards to the Maghrez and Bernardo Silva rumours...

Funny that City players who have been out of the transfer speculations for years suddenly pop up now that there’s a new kid on the block that is trying to lure them with even more ludicrous wages. It’s almost like they weren’t earning what the transfer books were saying, and weren’t really there because of Pep, City’s glorious history etc. If Real and Barca were able to offer the same financial package as City, how many of their players would be there you think?

KdB next man out? I believe he’s a bit more concerned about his sporting legacy, but once his team-mates double their already overinflated salaries over in Saudi Arabia, he might be tempted to set up his family (even more) for life.

Scalvini would be a great CB option.  Long term VVD replacement.

Linked today. Young, 6ft 4in, fast, aggressive, comfortable on both sides and can play. I like him. I think he could play on the left if we play 3 at the back. Long term VVD replacement is correct

Silva has made no secret for years he'd like out. It's been clear he's massively priced himself out of anyone else. We've seen the same over at PSG.

I saw his name mentioned today as well.

I think we’re lining up our targets for if / when Colwill doesn’t come off.

Chelsea are the perfect example of wealthy cunts never paying the price for their crimes. Bought big club status by a Russian gangster, accrued shitloads of debt and not only was it cleared for some god knows why reason where allowed to bypass FFP and spend what the fuck they like as a reward.

I still don't understand how there wasn't a bigger fuss kicked up about that. Scandalous.

Hmmm.

Newcastle United strengthen links with mega-rich Saudi Pro League as Toon director joins Al Hilal

Newcastle United director will also oversee business at Al Hilal

Newcastle United director Abdulmajid Alhagbani has also been named on the board of Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal.

The director is listed as one of seven new directors at Al Hilal soon after the club was taken over by the Public Investment Fund - who also own the Magpies. PIF now have a 75% stake in Saudi Pro League clubs Al Hilal, Al Ahli, Al Ittihad and Al Nassr

Everything Boehly has done was inside the UEFA or Premier League rules.

He bought the club for c.£4bn but of that, only £2.5bn or whatever was for the club. The other c.£1.5bn was for “infrastructure improvements” which everybody took would be work on a new ground / Stamford Bridge upgrades but they spent a lot of it on players.

I know the the 8 year contract is being stopped from the next window but that’s allowed as well.

What they’ve done might not be in the spirit of what the rules where there to stop but I think they’ve technically done little wrong.

This 8 year contract thing is going to come back and bite him on the arse. If / when some of these players don’t perform, they are going to get significantly less back for them when it comes to selling them.

If you look at Chelsea’s current squad, they look to have a good 11 but there is very, very little underneath that. They have a good youth system, they’ll likely have to use it.

I bet inter offered a 2 year loan covering 25% of his wages at which point he will be a free transfer.

Juventus will probably offer the same but to cover 30%of his wages.

Just seen he will have a year left so 2 mill obligation at rhe end of the loan
