The standard of the Great Britain team is summed up when I switched on the coverage the other day and the pundits were genuinely enthusiastic about the fact a British racer...had finished the race

It's the taking part that counts. You don't have to be a winner... well you know.

Our weather isnt that cold, its rain we excel in. Look at how well we do in Swimming and boaty things at the olympics. And if you didnt have to dodge bad driving on a bike we wouldnt be much use in cycling either.

We’d be good at the Rain Olympics. We’d particularly excel at:

Moaning about the weather.

Predicting when it will “turn out nice”.

Bringing the washing in.

Barbecuing in the rain.

We’d still be shit at the blue ribbon event;

Driving in the rain.

Spot on.

Now if we had 'skiing on slush' we'd be half decent.

Call yourself a sports fan , easy , when you aren't transfixed by an oversized casserole pot being chased down a patch of ice by a hyperactive hospital cleaner in their slippers.

Haha it just looks silly, saying that, my brother has been watching it and said there was this girl who can do four mid air spins which no one else can do, she even fell over but was so far ahead on points because of her feat that she still won whatever discipline it was, he likes it but not for me unless its on the telly in an empty pub

They need to introduce the event of sliding down a medium sized hill on a stolen for sale sign and jumping ship before you hit the road. Then I could look at an event and think I could of been a contender.

Or on an old sheet of old metal sliding down the rocky ralla embankment and similarly getting off before twatting yourself on the concrete cable thing just before the railway lines.

Supposed to be ' non-enhancing ' isn't it , I'm guessing whacky-baccy.

Heart medicine that increases blood flow and heart efficiency.

Russian athletes are no stranger to the substance. In the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, Russia's bobsledder Nadezhda Sergeeva was disqualified two days before her race after testing positive for trimetazidine.

Cheers,  Howie , the BBC sport app definitely said a few days back that the medal ceremony was delayed due to a non-enhancing failure , but this seems totally at odds with that report.

Just watched the young Russian skater do her thing. Whatever the rights/wrongs of her being allowed to compete her performance, even with a mistake, was a thing of beauty.

Apparently an additional skater will go through to the next stage in case they decide to kick her out between now and then.

If she’s knowingly taken something she shouldn’t, she obviously shouldn’t be allowed to compete. There’s ways and means though and this must be very difficult on a fifteen year old.

Haven't they said they wont kick her out because of the emotional impact on her with her being so young?

That’s the current line but they’re allowing an extra competitor through to the next stage in case that changes between now and Thursday when they go again.

I suspect she will see the competition out now but it’s not 100% guaranteed.

Whatever, it seems this has been handled very badly.
