Summer 2013 Transfer Thread

It's good to see all these players signing but the key ones are Mkhitaryan and Papadopoulos. Getting those two would push us on to the next level and give us an excellent chance of a top 4 finish.

I think these 2 are the ones most of us have our eyes on. If these players are prepared to come to Anfield I hope we are working round the clock to make it happen. At a combined fee possibly in excess of £40m though I can't see either happening soon unless Suarez is close to the exit.

Out:

Carroll - £15m

In/Possibly

Toure - Free

Ilori - £3-5m

Atsu £3-5m

Alberto £6-7m

Aspas £7-8m

Mignolet £8-10m

Papadopoulos £13-17m

Mkhitaryan £22-25m

Depending on the source, low end being £52m, high end being £77m and the reality being somewhere in between, unless we are going to see major investment this summer there will need to be transfers out to tie up the rumored transfers above and that will take time unless, like I said, Suarez won't be back.

I doubt it. This strikes me as brinksmanship, unless Schalke are being total whoppers about it and refusing to budge at all.

Shalke are asking close to 20m euros and we wont be paying that for a player with dodgey knees. That deal looks dead. Also issues with 3rd party ownership with Mhkitaryan so that deal might be dead too.

Not really arsed about the Greek fella. Never seen him play (Or heard of him, which goes for most people and if they say otherwise they're lying), apparently has dodgy knees and there are better value centre halves we can go for around Europe if needs be.

Sounds like paper bollocks to me to make out they still know whats going on after making out it was almost done a few days ago

I knew he was partially owned by a 3rd party a couple of weeks ago so I assume the club did and this isn't a sudden hitch

Agree. People have gone overboard on him because of his at times nutter moments turning him into a cult hero even before he's signed. Not played a game since November too, which is a hell of a long time.

We need a more experienced centre back, especially if we're after Llori too.

have to say despite not seeing much of Papa but from what I have seen and heard he is a very good prospect I'd prefer Alderweireld, cheaper, more experienced, versatile, not injury prone and most importantly Belgian and they are ace at the minute

People saying Luis Alberto has only played a few first team games are showing a bit of a lack of knowledge about Spanish football.

Playing for Barca B isn't like playing reserve football. They're a full time professional club that compete in the Spanish second division against teams like Villarreal, Sporting Gijon, Numancia.

It's the equivalent of us buying someone from the Championship, not a reserve league.

He was their second top scorer behind Delofleu on 16 (who has appeared for the first team) and ahead of Thiagos brother Rafinha on 10.

We're taking a punt on him but if you bought either of those two players you're probably talking over £10m so the fee is proportionate

I see no reason to believe Higuain isn't Morientes - I hope we steer well clear. Mkhitaryan will come, I think. The agent is well known to us, so I am pretty confident that the ownership issue was known prior to approaching him. I would hazzard a guess that it was also behind the CEO saying that we haven't contacted them, when we clearly had. 50% of Mkhitaryan wants away regardless, the other 50% wants a good price for him!

I think the thing people are getting at is that we are paying a big price for a player who hasn't been selected much for the first team at either of his clubs however perhaps if he hadn't gone on loan to Barca he may have featured for Sevilla's first team regularly also whilst it might becoming more common here I imagine its virtually unheard of in Spain for a player who has only really played second division football to cost that much

I know nothing about the lad so aren't going to make judgements but on the face of it does seem a risky deal.

Would you think we could get a play from the Championship, a highly rated player from the championship for less than £8m?

In that context, I think he is a good price.

well as we have seen with the likes of Zaha, Wickham and Rodriguez and soon will with Ince then no however players over here are a lot more expensive than in Spain

like I say not complaining as I don't know anything about him really but it is certainly well above the norm you'd expect to pay for a player of his experience in Spain so lets hope he is something special

Can't believe we haven't gone in for Higuain. Is it that the board are scared if we enquire the first thing they'll say is "give us Suarez".

Seriously missing out here.

Its because we are out of his league rather than the other way around. Its what goes on behind the scenes that never gets made public. Agents acting for LFC approach the players agent to see if he's open to a move. Player's agent say GTF or words to that effect. LFC decide to make no public move for the player so no public snub.
