Only five days to go and it begins at last. Haven't looked forward to a season as much as this in quite a while. I've never been a fan of Aquilani, and I have my doubts about him in the premier league, but he has been in great form in pre-season and if there are no serious offers on the table for him then I would give him a go to see if he can provide some of the creativity we need when Suarez isn't starting. And I think it's probably too early to expect Suarez to start. I'd be tempted to try something like this, injuries permitting. .............Reina Kelly Carra Agger Johnson .............Lucas ..Henderson....Adam ...........................Downing ..…

I think the side will be the same that played vs Norwich. Although personally I would start Coates over Skrtel and Robinson over Johnson. Both have cost us too many goals this season so far and I'd give them a kick up the arse and show them and others that players will be picked on form, not reputation. Might as well get a thread going about Mascherano. It's looking increasingly likely that he will leave, probably when Balotelli moves to City. Some interesting article from Il Corriere dello Sport today, though. Inter have opened talks with Liverpool about the prospect of signing Javier Mascherano, according to Il Corriere dello Sport. Earlier this summer, the Argentina international revealed via his agent that it would be a dream to play for a prestigious club like Inter. Il Corriere understands that Inter first made contact two weeks ago and Eduardo Macia only got back in touch yesterday evening. Macia was Rafael Benitez's right-hand man at Liverpool…

This isn't about specific posters you don't get on with, we all know that's the case by now, just for the tiny bullshit things which are occasionally said and make you shake your head. One of mine is when people accuse others of hoping we'll lose, or wanting to say "I told you so" or any other bizarre variation. It's astounding logic. Why hell would someone spend so much time/money being a fan just so they can have it out with people on the internet they've never met and probably don't think in their day-to-day lives? It's so daft I was speechless the first time I read it on here. Another is sort of from that family; when people put criticism of a player down to s…

Don't know what caused it yet, but the server went mental last night during the City game. It wasn't Coates playing well, or Lucas scoring the winning pen, or even City getting a helping hand from a friendly liner again (I think we all expected that). Usually Barry Wom helps me fix things but he was unavailable so I was pretty much on my own, which is why it took so long to fix. I'm not sure we're out of the woods yet, as I don't know what caused it and the webhosts (1and1 internet) refused to even look into it, the shower of twats. There's no way I'm staying with them after this, their customer service is the worst I've ever come across and therefore I'm going to…

I've only ever started one match day thread before I think and that was Everton FA cup semi final, so I'm hoping for a similar result here. Same team as last time? Seems likely.

Right, I'm starting this now as I'm going to this and I have a good record in the cups when it come to starting threads. Just listening to both 5Live and Talk Sports analysis on the Arsenal/UTD game and they were both saying the same thing about Arsenal tonight in that they looked tired or dead on their feet. After tonight's result, our spirits and confidence should be sky high. Come on you mighty reds.

Every new signing deserves their own thread. For me, he is a good signing. Of course, there is no perfect replacement for Carragher but Toure brings a lot of experience to the squad. He is a leader and figure who will be used in the dressing room - which is something we apparently lacked last season, never mind now with Carragher actually gone. I don't think he will be used widely in the first eleven however he will be a solid option, and we will further strengthen this position as well. Get the feeling he will be more of a Gary Mac than a Voronin.

Seeing as my record when starting threads in cup games isn't to bad, here goes. We're going to have to be on top of our game come Sunday. Villa have found a bit of form and Benteke is scoring again. They'll give us a much harder game than Newcastle did tonight. I've a horrible feeling about it as I still think there's another shock left in the cup.

Massive game. Win it and we have had a decent start to the season, anything less and we will have taken a step backwards from last year. This tends to be a difficult fixture for us, although we've had a good run here recently, and the last two wins have been tight. Even when we were in top, top form 5 months ago we had to grind this one out. Let's tear fat Sham a new one. Surely we can't play Balotelli up front on his own. We need to be at them from the first minute. The midweek game next week is only Boro so we don't have to worry about managing players' fitness. I'd go for a side as close to the team that played at Spurs as possible. If Allen is unfit I think I'd t…

Not started one of these yet, so we'll either have our biggest win of the season or get snotted; I'm going with the latter. Lets be honest, whatever team we put out should beat Oldham comfortably. Think we'll have to rest some players, but I'd make sure we've got a few first teamers in there, and take them off if we're ahead. Something like: Mignolet; Kelly, Toure, Ilori, Cissoko; Lucas, Gerrard, Alberto; Moses, Suarez, Sterling.

Big game, so I think we need to get this thread going up early. I actually think this will be our hardest game of the season. Arsenal keep the ball better than any side in the league, they are in good form and it will be a real test. But as good as Arsenal are in possession, we have to fancy Sturridge and Suarez giving their back four (which doesn't look anything special on paper) some real problems. Rodgers has some big decisions to make: - It looks like Coutinho is fit for this, does he come straight back into the team? - Does he stick with three at the back? I said last season many times we looked best when Henderson, Lucas and Gerrard were all…

I've got a 100% win rate on match threads so thought I'd start this one. I fully expect us to bum these 5-0 now as that's what we do these days. Well actually I think we'll narrowly win 2-1 with a weaker side than we started with today. Your turn...

im not one for dwelling on the past, but seriously, what in gods name has happened to the lad? 2 years ago he was untouchable, quite easily the best finisher in the premiership, i remember one time my brother said, "if the ball hit off that cunts arse it will end up in the top corner, he's a goal machine" but contrast that to now, the poor fella is a shambles i dont mean this to be a slanging match on Torres, the lad scored plenty of great goals for us, we got good money for him, so i dont begrudge his move but what are peoples opinions on his complete lack of form? wasnt there rumours about his knee or something like that, ive even heard rumo…

Shirley we should be tryin to sign him? Great player, just what we need for if/when gerrard gets fed up and fucks off I know it's not our most needed position at the moment but the figures that are being banded around are laughable (£2-£4m), he's worth much more than that. (apols if this has been discussed on the FF i just can't face spending too much time on there at the moment, gives me a headache)

Player of the year? I'm not even sure I'd vote for me Love or loathe him, Luis Suarez, the Premier League's leading scorer, can dazzle Anfield with special skills today Jonathan Northcroft Published: 21 April 2013 I WANT to be honest with Luis Suarez. I was not in his camp last season during the Patrice Evra affair and there are times you look at him on the pitch and think: “Amigo, why?” But he is also one of the most gifted, get-you-out-of-your-seat footballers I’ve watched. The past and the persona Suarez occasionally adopts when his blood’s up and he’s trying almost anything to win a game would not stop me voting him player of the year. “So who a…

He's too similar to Rafa. We needed a change, we got one but its not different enough. Obviously they'll have different ideas etc but their mentality is pretty much the same. I thought any reasonably decent manager would be capable of getting the players out of their current malaise. Last November i suggested on here Roy as a potential candidate. I like Roy, despite my recent comments about him I still like him, he's a good manager but I worry that he's too similar to Rafa and Ged before. Maybe it'll take time and i'm jumping the gun here but this is my gut feeling. Are the players hearing and doing the same shit in training thats it not having an effect on th…

He is borderline as to whether he will be our manager next season. 50 plus million spent and no progress. Wanting to spend up to £15m on Ashley Williams in the summer. The alarm bells are ringing. My opinion is he is no different to past managers full of shit. He talks a good game yet he has proved nothing. If LFC want to get back in among the elite then they have to change manager. What is the point of letting him spend a potential £40m in the summer when deep down you know he is not good enough. People will say "we can't keep changing managers" but when its as wrong as this man is it needs doing. The board need to just hold their hands up and say they got …

Each club has received an allocation of 16.626 tickets. No doubt the majority of tickets will end up in the hands of people who come to the surface once there's a final on the horizon. If you're entering the ballot, good luck The breakdown of LFC’s ticket allocation is: General supporter allocation - 63 per cent Contractual supporter allocation; to include seasonal hospitality members and priority rights holders - 25 per cent Match day officials/first team players/former players/media - 11 per cent Commercial partners – contractual obligations - 1 per cent Selling details. Anyone who's got seven or more credits from this seasons CL run is guaranteed a tick…

Exactly what I wanted. Would rather play them now than at Wembley. Atmosphere should be electric. I'm calling first dibs on a ticket too, please?

Looks like Sturridge will be fit which is a big plus. Rodgers needs to decide who to play at right back given Johnson is injured. He also has some decisions at centre back with Sakho signing, Toure fit again and Skrtel doing well vs United. I think I'd like to see Moses play ahead of Aspas. I'd go: ---------------------------------Mignolet------------------------------------- Toure--------------Skrtel-------------------Agger---------------Enrique Henderson--------Lucas------------------Gerrard----------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------Moses -----------------------------------Coutinho---------…
