Gravenberch has already become a better player at Liverpool
It may have been a challenging season at times, but the father of Ryan Gravenberch saw plenty of development in his son and believes the best is yet to come. Despite being only 22 years old, Gravenberch already has played for three of the most iconic names in club football. Coming through the famed Ajax academy, his talent was such that German powerhouse Bayern Munich signed him on a five year deal. However, that was a move that certainly did not work for eith
Report: Betis homecoming on the cards for Adrian
One of the forgotten members of the current Liverpool squad in Adrian could be on track for an emotional return to the club where it all started for the Spaniard. Mundo Deportivo (per Get Football News Spain) report that Real Betis have identified the veteran goalkeeper as a key summer target. Adrian joined the Betis academy at the age of 11 and after graduating into senior ranks, he started his career with the club’s reserve teams before finally getting his break in the
Decision Time for Caoimhin Kelleher as Clubs Eye Move for Liverpool Goalie
Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher cemented his status as an outstanding shot-stopper when his heroics helped the Reds win the League Cup in 2022. Leicester City took Liverpool to penalties in the fifth round and he saved two spot-kicks to help the Merseyside club book their place in the next round. The 25-year-old also made massive saves on Mason Mount and Christian Pulisic in the final against Chelsea. The Reds ultimately won on penalties, with Kelleher's heroics a pivotal par

2023/24 Season Report Card - Kostas Tsimikas
A mostly disappointing season for the Greek scouser, who has previously impressed with his ability to come in from the cold and immediately hit the ground running. This year though he would often look quite rusty when he came in, and his confidence really seemed to suffer. When Robbo suffered a shoulder injury with Scotland that was going to keep him out for a couple of months, we really needed Kostas to step in but initially he struggled. This was the opportunity he had waited for
2023/24 Season Report Card - Andy Robertson
I don’t have much to say about Robbo except I think he’s under-rated and had a sneaky good season - injury lay off notwithstanding. He’s been very consistent but doesn’t seem to get much praise these days, perhaps because the style of play changed and we were no longer about him and Trent flying forward trying to get more assists than each other. Maybe it’s because he missed a chunk of time through injury too, and the team did well in his absence. He can't control that
2023/24 Season Report Card - Virgil Van Dijk
Our player of the season for me and it’s not particularly close. He wasn’t perfect, he had some games that weren’t great and some moments that had me thinking “the old Virgil wouldn’t have done that” but overall this was a brilliant bounce back season from him and he did a great job in his first campaign as skipper. I had some doubts about his suitability to lead the team but I’m happy to say I was wrong there. He led by example all year and never was that more evident than at Wembl
2023/24 Season Report Card - Ibrahima Konate
Let me start by saying that I think Konate is brilliant and for a brief spell during this season he may have been the most dominant centre back in the league not named Virgil Van Dijk. Arsenal’s pair were getting all of the hype but there’s a reason France select Konate over Saliba; he’s a better player. Over the course of the entire season though he didn’t show it and I can’t argue with any Arsenal fan claiming that Saliba should be given the nod at the Euros this summer. It’s all
That was the Week that Was (Jun 3-7 2024)
Monday Jun 3: I’ve seen a few people taking issue with something Bellingham said after the final about proving critics wrong and that people said he couldn’t do it blah blah blah. He seems like a bit of a tit to me and I’d have to question Trent’s taste in mates. First he was tight with Rashford and now Bellingham’s his body and they’re both knobheads. This “everyone doubted me” schtick is especially nauseating. At 16 he was in Birmingham’s first team and every top club in England wa

Premier League Round Up (May 19 2024)
Probably the least dramatic final day I can remember. Maybe that’s why all eyes were on Anfield for Klopp’s farewell? Sky put most of their energy into that anyway, there’s even an hour and twenty minutes of their coverage on YouTube. It had 70% more viewers than City’s title celebrations but that isn’t surprising at all. For one thing, we’ve got way more fans than them, but also there will have been far more neutrals tuning into what was happening at Anfield rather than the lame, ha
Premier League Round Up (May 11-15 2024)
So that’s it, everything is settled now. There’s still the formality of playing the final round of fixtures, but we know who has been relegated, we know who will be in the Champions League next year and we know who the Champions will be. Sure, City still need to beat West Ham but we all know how this movie ends. Arsenal fans have almost had the full experience now. The only thing lacking really is for West Ham to take the lead this weekend and give them that one final flicker of hope
Premier League Round Up (May 3-6 2024)
We’ll start at the bottom this week, as Luton took a big step back towards the Championship after failing to beat Everton at home on Friday night. That kind of felt like their last throw of the dice, especially with Forest facing Sheffield United the following day and Burnley having crept right up on them too. They fell behind to a fucking joke of a penalty awarded by VAR. Mengi was holding Branthwaite, but that happens a dozen times in every game and it’s never given. It was miles a

That was the Week that Was (May 27 - Jun 2 2024)
Monday May 27: Ten Hag takes shots at Arne Slot, some nonsense about Feyenoord not being that good under him. “People have been going overly lyrical about Feyenoord. Feyenoord were steady this year, but not top. PSV Eindhoven were two classes better in all areas. In terms of dominating the ball, in terms of putting pressure, in terms of intensity, you name it. [Peter] Bosz and his staff did that top notch, but the rest of the club is also well put together. PSV Eindhoven
That was the Week that Was (May 20-24 2024)
Monday May 20: The fallout from yesterday is interesting. Man City once again screaming from the rooftops about not getting their due credit and wondering why everyone is talking about Liverpool instead. Their official account tweeted a a dig at us last night because they’re so obsessed. Linda responded to that today and basically put them in a body bag, it was great stuff to be fair, she’s absolutely savaged them while somehow keeping the high ground. Everyone at City h

"Macca Can" - Steve McMahon interview
You started out with the Blues. Was it always going to be Everton or did you have any trials with Liverpool when you were a kid? It was always going to be Everton, I didn’t get an option. When I was 10 or 11 I was scouted by them and that was the first thing I did, join Everton. All my family were Evertonians - lots of them still are - so it was a natural thing to do and I was very fortunate. Things change quickly in life though. We’ll get to why you left in a second, but I wanted t

"Xabi Alonso's 70 yard screamer against Newcastle (2006/07)" by Jason Harris
When you think of guile and grace as a midfielder, one name that personally comes to mind is Xabi Alonso. To this day, Xabi remains in my top three all-time favourite Liverpool players for many of the qualities that will be discussed in this piece.Signed for a absolute snip at £10.7 million from Real Sociedad at the start of Rafa Benitez's tenure in the summer of 2004, the Spaniard's arrival in England was at the peak of a pre-eminent era for central midfielders in the Premier League. He joined
"El Niño strikes - Fernando Torres’ first goal" by Jason Harris
When an eagle-eyed photographer spied the words 'You’ll Never Walk Alone' on an armband worn by Fernando Torres in an Atletico Madrid game, it appeared destiny that the Spaniard would one day play for the Reds. Liverpool fans were crying out for an iconic figure to lead the line and help take the team to the next level. Their dreams became a reality when Rafa Benitez signed the 23-year-old from his boyhood club for £27 million, which at the time was a club record fee. While Torres wa
'SuperDan' breaks the drought at Old Trafford (2000/01)" by Jason Harris
"One day we will beat Manchester United, I promise you that." Those were the immortal words from Gerard Houllier after a gut-wrenching 2-1 defeat to the Red Devils at Old Trafford in January of 1999. Houllier was never a manager chasing headlines with the way he spoke, but the Frenchman saw something in the team he had taken sole ownership over just a few months before after initially sharing the role with Roy Evans. It had been close to ten years of misery when playing
