Thank god that's over. Sterling our most positive player. And based on that there's no reason Suso shouldn't be in the squad for games like this, Pacheco too.

That's the only goal Downing will score this year probably.

Lucas even at 50% is five times the central midfielder Adam, Spearing or Henderson are.

Lots of work to be done Brendan.

All that matters is the result at the end of the day. Dreadful performance tho.

Most worrying was Borini being left isolated all night long. Similar to Graham was last season in many games.

Downings goal was good but I forgot he was on the pitch before and after it. Sterling seen a lot of the ball but did nothing with it. As for the rest, they done fuck all.

Against a half decent side, we'd be going to anfield with a massive scoreline to crawl back. The bracket has been set so low, the football can only get better.

We've struck a winning strategy: play like utter shit for 60 minutes or so, then give the ball to one of the worst players on the night. The opposition will of course go to sleep, waiting for him to give the ball away as usual, and then BAM, have him hit a stunning winner!

If we do this every game, we'll be champions!

Seriously though, we were bad, but we won, and I'm glad that Rodgers started with a victory, even a very lucky one. I'm all for omens.

Henderson was terrible today. Why does he still think blind passes first time are the key to possession football?

well

up until we scored it was like watching a car crash in slow motion and first game against a team during season or not it was nowhere near acceptable then we got a goal out of nowhere, decent one by Downing and hopefully a sign of things to come although I doubt it as he was last seasons Downing most of the game, after we scored did alright but nothing to right home about and we need to significantly improve

oh and BR's team talk before next week needs to be along the lines of

lads this is Fabio

Hard to tell, but think Borini could be a useful foil for Suarez. But he hardly got the ball, so maybe it's just wishful thinking more than anything. Man, we really need someone in midfield to link the defence and attack. We are static when we get the ball; I want a midfielder who runs onto it, moves into space and looks for a pass on the run on occasions. You know, a bit of drive. You'd think Gerrard would be the one, but he was shocking today.
