I see him as a Finnan/Arbeloa type player, defends and that's all (haven't seen alot of him though, so don't know if he does attack)

 

I'd be delighted if he was another Finnan/Arbeloa tbh, get a natural winger and let the winger attack and the defender defend.

This would not surprise me in the least. I would have preferred Baines, but I imagine that deal would have been very difficult to pull off and we can't run the risk of ending up with no one. Plus he probably won't cost more than about £5 million, which leaves more money available for other areas of the team.

If we can get him for a decent price then sound. I'd rather us spending more on the midfield then paying loads for a fullback. I'd rather Baines but I can see us having to pay upto 20 million for him.

I think Newcastle paid about £6m for him, so if his contract is up soon then he should still be worth about the same.

Obviously someone is worth what you're willing to pay for them...but I'd say we could probably get Baines for around that figure, who's a better left-back.

I agree with the post above about him being a Finnan/Arbeloa type player. I think he'll do well. From what I've seen (which isn't that much, admittedly) he has good technique, and seems to have improved defensively.

I would say the host was just speculating what the price would be, because he said "£15m or whatever" instead of saying that it was actually £15m.

 

I do find it odd though that Thommo didn't mention a price but he says the deal has been done.
