Seen one of the blerts complaining on the echo comments about us getting planning permission from the council to expand the Annie Road quicker then they got it for the slave arena.

Isnt that because we submitted our planning application years before they submitted theirs, ours wasnt linked to destroying a World Heritage site, made in the hope of the Commonwealth Games bid being successful which ultimately wasnt and, using council tax money for the council to investigate and, if possible, obtain funding at preferential interest rates?

Or did the council just bend over for 'der redshite' after all that?

Or that our extension didn't involve buying any land as all the land the old houses that were demolished years ago was owned by the club.

Or that the increase in capacity didn't go over the 68,500 legal requirement to contribute to transport links. Something that Everton are refusing to do with their new stadium.

I'd forgotten about the Commonwealth Games link. It's quite funny that the Birmingham games have finished and their stadium is still some way off.

Remember when everyone on here said it wouldn't get built? Well it's not so much "not" getting built as "is" getting built isn't it?

Can't blame them for wanting to piss on our chips about it really. Fuck em anyway though.

Think it was more a case of the amount of time it was taking for them to get going. No action on it for over 5 years and the endless stadium updates when they lost a game or we won anything.

Be interesting to see what they do if they move in and are still shite as they won't have any stadium updates after a Derby defeat.

It wasnt getting built until some dodgey financial goings on happened. They still havent severed links to Usmanov only suspended them. We all knew that club was sailing close to the wind regarding the PL's FFP then they suddenly declared they had a £350m 'covid induced' debt at the same time they started ramping up building the thing.

Even so, once it is finally built, it will not be the financial panacea they seem to think it will. It will be more like a millstone unless Moshiri is forced to sell up and someone buys the club. Even then, as we well know, they might not get owners who are prepared to throw money at them.

Conversely, the lower they sink, the more likely someone will buy them.
