You see, I don't regard people like that as representative of religion; I just see them as a bit fucked up. Anyone who can hold a view like that whilst purporting to also believe in "Love thy neighbour" is clearly having issues, in my opinion. That said, it can be very hard for people who have been brought up to believe a certain thing absolutely in a certain context to cope with the fact that society is no longer operating in line with that belief.

My own dad was brought up in the Sally Army and was very much indoctrinated by them. Even now, after decades of attending churches of other denominations, he can't bring himself to enter a pub. He also won't even say the word "Damn", nevermind actually swear.

He used to find homosexuality very difficult to reconcile with his faith. However, a combination of my logical arguments and my mum's faith ones eventually made him see the error of his ways. It was hard for him and I know he still feels instinctively uncomfortable about it, even though he now has no intellectual or moral problem with it.

I'd like to ask a question in relation to a news item today so I am glad religion has come up

Its going to sound like a piss take but I swear its not.

The wife of one of the 7/7 bombers got jailed today for a year (I think) for giving her husband the Burqa which he wore to try and flee the country.

Do woman who wear these have their faces on their passport photo's and if so do they get taken off somewhere so someone can check what they look like? Having a passport photo like this
