Daniel Sturridge work rate!

He was so isolated on Wednesday it would have been utterly pointless. Running for the sake of it.

Exactly right. As we sat back and gave him no support he had no chance but to watch the ball played around him. That was the time that if we had designs on winning the game at 2-0 we should have put some pacey outlets on there to help him like Sterling and Arsenal would have either had to score the 2 goals and not concede (which they would have as their defence was all over the place) or sit back and kill it off, which we don't have the players to do.

People are used to Suarez running around like a mad man.

Players are different. Sturridge doesn't close down everything and perhaps thats a good thing. It allows him to conserve energy for when its needed.

Saying that he doesn't do it at all is bollocks though. We nearly scored on Wednesday due to his closing down of the keeper.

I didn't realise he was this good a footballer. I knew he was a decent finisher and that he was fairly rapid, but he's also more intelligent than I'd given him credit for. He's a good passer of the ball and his hold-up play is great. I've seen no evidence of this supposed bad attitude either.

Looks a very good signing.

Don't really want him wasting his energy closing down players to be honest, he's got blistering pace and should be as far forward as he can be, conserving his energy for attacking. Could never understand managers', especially Houllier's, obsession with having every player expending their energy closing down. If you've got a strker with pace then let him do what he does best.

I said in his transfer thread can we please just once sign a player who comes in and makes an immediate impact rather than taking months to settle and he's definitely done that. I think he was excellent today. The ball seemed to stick to him every time and I can't remember him making a single bad pass. As others have said the injury probably restricted the amount of running he could do.

Spoke well when interviewed on MotD2 just now.

He's probably less arrogant than his time at Chelsea, where he did all that other arrogant stuff, like, erm, well, you know... that stuff everybody always alludes to but never actually mentions.
