  1. They're absolutely slaughtering Inter. Shouldn't have let go of Coutinho I guess!
  2. OK, just finished this show recently, so I can finally read this thread! The ending. Here's the problem, as I see it: Warning! The following content is NOT WORK SAFE. Click the Show button to reveal. -If Tony is getting killed - which seems to be so clearly implied - why? Who is the "Members Only" guy? What motivation does he have? Where does he come from? It seems unfair for the show to pull someone out of nowhere, in general we're never kept in the dark, even with what's going on in other families or the FBI. -So maybe he isn't being killed. I read an interview with David Chase where he implies that the point is that Tony may be killed days, months or years later, but ultimately, in Tony's own words, "there's only two endings for a guy like me". So he's not being killed that night but someday, somewhere along the line. And he's always going to be nervous until the day he dies. I like that idea but there are too many visual cues to ignore (the sudden cut to black?) So overall I'm agnostic. I also didn't like how they don't resolve whether Sil survives, or what comes of the RICO case. It's a very good ending, but maybe tries to be a little more clever than it needed to be.
  3. This is bullshit. Walking off in the face of racist abuse is a completely acceptable response. It's far more effective than the inevitable slap on the wrist Zenit will get from UEFA. Another home run from our crack team of executives.
  4. Exactly. Well either that, in which case all the managers of the top sides are just complete tools or else Ferguson manages to get results because of other factors, be it managerial continuity, man management, a certain sway over referees. Whatever. I don't know too many statistics, but I think that the league table is a pretty good arbiter of form. The table says City are the second best team in the Premiership, and to my mind that makes Mancini better than most of those who would be fêted to replace him.
  5. I'm confused, didn't you used to like Mancini, when did you go off him? Or was that AVB? I think that's unfair. Great players don't automatically equal a great team *cough* England *cough*
  6. Plus he played most of the game today with a thigh injury, out of the England game reportedly and physioroom.com says "no return date"!
  7. Voted other - for Glen Johnson. Well of course Carra and Gerrard are my long time numbers one and two, but maybe it's time for someone else to have a chance...?
  8. But all kidding aside, I think this guy needs professional help. Mental health organisations in the UK
  9. Here's a revolutionary thought: if Skrtl has been shit lately, maybe he should, y'know, be dropped. Crazy I know.
  10. I miss Sissoko. He was never the same after he took that boot to the eye.
  11. Just downloaded it the other day, haven't had time to give it a proper listen yet!
  12. Respect, homie. I think those three things might all be connected. But I'll take the neg like a man.
  13. I think I disagree with the main premise of the thread, although I realise I'm probably younger than most of you (23 next week). Incidentally, did someone say above that life in the 1940s wasn't as bad as we thought? The Nine-teen-forties. What the actual fuck.
  14. Aah, come on. I see this kind of thing on facebook all the time. It's obviously an unfair comparison. Comparing one of the most famous bands of an era to the worst, jokiest shite of today. I bet 99.999% of the songs that came out in 1970 sounded awful compared to 'Since I've Been Loving You'. Music today, just like always, is mostly poor, a little bit of good and a tiny bit of great. Check out some decent modern music before you write it off: El Camino - Black Keys (2011) Only by the Night - Kings of Leon (2008 ) Whatever People Think I Am... - Arctic Monkeys (2006) Tyrannosaurus Hives - The Hives (2004) Elephant - White Stripes (2003) Up the Bracket - The Libertines (2002) and of course Kid A - Radiohead (2000) I listen to a lot of music from all different eras and I don't think it's getting worse, I think it's much easier to produce today so there's a lot more diversity. So if anything it's better. Two of my all-time favourite albums, by the way, are In the Aeroplane Over the Sea (1998 ) and Astral Weeks (1968 ). And I'm not going to even try and convince you about the merits of rap and hip-hop...
  15. Thoughts after yesterday Dave? I thought having Johnson might have made a difference, Wisdom's defending in the build up to their second goal was a little hesitant. Otherwise, I didn't think Gerrard or Suarez looked in the least affected by the two games in a week.
  16. I voted no but having read the thread, I feel the need to qualify. On a pavement, or an otherwise clean lawn, it's litter. Throw it under a hedge or something. Also, I eat while walking all the time.
  17. Warning! The following content is NOT WORK SAFE. Click the Show button to reveal. Yeah I was wondering that too. I read somewhere that if you watch and listen closely, there is a snap as Hank pulls open the page with the dedication - the pages were stuck together and so Walt never saw the dedication and thought it was safe to keep the book as a harmless memento, with meaning only to him. Another point: Hank actually has a lot of incentive to keep quiet, seeing as Walt is now out of the business, also this will make him (Hank) look very, very bad. If he were to try and prosecute Walt it would only be because of his conscience/sense of justice.
  18. Kill me now. You couldn't make this up, could you?
  19. Increased Pre-Tax Earnings is the new treble. Seriously, though, this result pisses me off. It's almost like they did it just to spite us.
  20. The pessimistic version of our season goes: Suarez is brilliant at creating opportunities but consistently fails to score. Borini is much the same. Chances go begging and we end up losing games despite dominating most teams, because we simply cannot score. We finish 8th or 9th. The optimistic version goes: Our new style of play helps our strikers and goals start to flow, with a fair few coming from midfield as well. The team plays quick passing football, youngsters like Morgan and Sterling have a big impact and we make a strong push for 4th. Have to wait and see.
