This is nothing to do about having luck or being unlucky, we just are not efficient enough in front of goal.

 

We conceded from two 'long balls' today, we haven't seen that this season as our defence has been more or less solid all season. Arsenal scored two very 'un-arsenal' goals today, well RVP scored two. You just knew that we weren't going to win today when kuyt missed the rebound from the pen, 2 yards out and some how he doesn't score.

You're right, mate, it was. Van Persie still had a lot of work to do though, no matter how good the ball was.

 

I clocked him peeling away from Carragher the second the ball was played and I thought 'shit' because I knew what was coming. The vast majority of other players would have struggled to have even get the shot on target, let alone possess the brain to peel away into an area at that exact moment.

 

As Emlyn said, the lad is at the top of his game and today has highlighted just how badly we need somebody who can contribute 20 goals no sweat.

Well it was a very disappointing result but some of the reactions on here have been completely over the top. It was a decent performance with the same old problem of not being able to put the ball in the net and unfortunately that's rather an important part of football. This side could go either way at the moment. The performances have certainly been there this season but the results haven't matched and either they start to do so or some of these players will have to be binned and it will be yet another rebuilding job. That's us out of the race for fourth now. Even a draw wouldn't have been much use and the defeat definitely finishes us off I should think. Got to start getting a few wins or we could end up with an embarrassing league position where we remain below Newcastle and the likes of Sunderland and Stoke move above us. There's still the FA cup but that would seem to be about all we've got to really go for now.

A EL slot is an improvement on last season - not a disaster.

 

One cup won, and one to come, a possible double, would be magnificent.

 

Suarez' skill as a player is beyond question - his goalscoring record for us is.

 

For me a Dirk/Suarez two needs a run.

Given the money we've spent, lets not ignore the fact we should have had an adequate replacement for Lucas if he got injured, Gerrard being injured, as he was for the last 4 months of last season when we were actually looking like a decent side, should have been offset a little if the 20m odd we spent on Henderson & Adam had been spent more wisely, same with Suarez for the 9 games, we had a 35m donkey & a 20m winger to bring the best out of him. Dress it up anyway you like but we're not good enough & have gone backwards from last season despite spending more than 35 million. Not sure where you get 35m spend from & i'm not getting into an argument about net spend, but we SPENT, PAYED, BOUGHT

Thats all that springs to mind at the moment, there maybe more. But its alot more than the 35m you say we spent. That lot comes to APP 50m. So we've let players go that were surplus and SPENT 50m on supposed improvement, and to bring out the best of a 35m striker, neither of which has happened. The same as every football club/ company etc, the final buck stops at the manager.
