17.5 million isnt bad business for a guy that could have rotted in the reserves and left for fuck all, just hope roy spends some cash surely the club has 20-30 mill available to get a left back,striker, and a central midfielder, there playing pish at the minute so if there not going to spend at least play the likes of kelly,shelvey & pacheco id rather see them play as johnson, lucas & ngog

Feel exactly the same but could see it coming. This club is in a very dangerous place at the moment.

 

And then you've got the Sweetener statements like the one on the Offal about Gerrard looking forward to a good run in the Europa and how we have a tricky group. Which the masses will lap up.

Weird shit happens with some of our announcements, anyone remember when he signed. It was reported in a few sites the BBC and the Times it was a 3 and a half year deal including his wages, maybe it was.

 

This would mean his contract would have run out in Feb 2012 so maybe this played a part in how things panned out that and needing some extra wonga certainly didn't help.

 

Didn't Crouch go for 11million and that Ozil who went to Real Madrid for 15 both with one year on their contract.

 

If the club wanted to keep him they could have for another year and got close to the amount unless his contract was shorter than we know about.

I very much doubt this is correct. There's no way we'd have given a player a contract that ended in February part way through a season.

 

As for people claiming he fee is 13m quid or 16m euros, they are wrong too.

That was my exact thoughts initially but on the other hand how often do you purchase a player out of the transfer window. Throw in the bizarre nature of the transfer and who knows what goes on in our club now.
