Fucking hell this coming season is his fourth for us and some people don’t even know how to say his name?!

So our Xabi, how is his name pronounced phonetically?

In my opinion it's Shabby (Sh-a-bby)

In spanish the 'v' is not spoken as 'v', but neither is it spoken as a hard 'b'.

It's actually somewhere in between: try to aim for a 'b' and 'v' together.

The X on the other hand could be either a hard 'Z' or a softer 'Z', (as in the name of that famous actress 'Zar zar Gabore'..not actually sure how you spell it), depending on whether you speak Spanish in Spain, or Spanish in Uraguay, or Argentina.

Me and lads had a similar type of arguement over Ginsters (gin-sters as in the juniper based spirit or Ginn-sters) pasties a few years ago. A quick phone call solved it. The receptionist still got it wrong IMO.

I reckon its Chavi as I'm told that how the Basques would say it, no doubt I'm wrong though.

edit: just seen above you tube clip, duly noted and adjusted for. My mates cat is going to have to be pronounced differently know.

As in "me pals Moggy"? Or is it "Shabby" instead of "Tabby"?
