Brendan Rodgers is doing a fantastic job and the reason why? Because the TLA (three letter acronym) that seems to be the scapegoat for everything on here have hired him, backed him and believe in him.

For all those people having a pop at TLA, maybe you should question your own support/motives before you start laying in to the owners of this club that saved us from a truly unthinkable future.

With that out of the way let's look at the facts.

For years we've all lambasted our team for not bringing through young talent right? Well Raheem Sterling IS that talent we've been waiting for. Why has he improved so rapidly? Well there are two reasons, one the manager he plays for and two he's got genuine belief he can make it into the starting line up. Would Sterling be setting Anfield alight if he had the collective talents of Kuyt, Maxi and Bellamy ahead of him in his position? No. Would a lot of different managers have kept those players scared to lose their "experience" and not have faith in their system and these young players? Of course they would.

We sold old to rebuild for the future and bought players that fit the manager's ethos. We didn't do it just to trim the wage budget but that's a given and so we should be looking at doing that given where we are with the money we've pissed away. If TLA told Rodgers to cut the wage budget and sell before we buy then THANK FUCK FOR THAT.

We have a front three that although they are struggling for goals have a very nice balance of pace, skill and awareness and they are going to cause all kinds of defences all kinds of problems and for Suarez the goals will come.

Rodgers said on a number of occasions that Andy Carroll was a third choice striker and true to his word he played him exactly like that. First Suarez, second, Borini and third Carroll ... but wait Morgan is improving and the manager rewards him with the third choice role and so Carroll is even more surplus to requirements and Samed Yesil is the final nail in the coffin meaning we have 4 players who can and have played in the centre forward role so in Brendan's eyes Carroll is now fifth choice.

What we've done in midfield is truly remarkable. Joe Allen is going to be a steal at 15m and that's not something you say very often. The lad has all the poise and balance of a young Xabi Alonso and he also has the intelligence as well. He may not have the same range of passing but in his own way he controls the midfield and is an absolute joy to watch. When Liverpool signed Sahin on loan with the option to buy, I couldn't smile wide enough. This player is incredible, there is literally nothing missing from his game and the idea of him being on the same pitch with Joe Allen reminds me of the days of Mascherano and Alonso and personally I already prefer Allen to Mascherano.

What did we give away to get this talent? I mean it must have been some world class players by the unfortunate reaction to our transfer activity right? Oh we gave up Charlie Adam and Jay Spearing ... and that's it. Hang on let's just look over that again. We swopped Charlie Adam and Jay Spearing for Joe Allen and Nuri Sahin ... that on its own is unbelievable but no people would rather focus on some shite donkey we massively overpaid being rightly ousted from the wage bill as if it's a bad thing.

Let's have a look at the defence and the keeper. We were supposed to be losing Skrtel and Agger right? Well we kept hold of them, plenty to celebrate there as well ... of course not that's not what we do these days we just see the bad in everything. Reina, how is he still here? His loyalty is remarkable and it's a pleasure to see someone so committed to a cause that has verily fucked him right over. Add in that we were meant to lose Suarez to Juve and is it really as bad as people are making out?

So of any not we've swopped:

Bellamy, Kuyt, Maxi and got Borini and Yesil with the emergence of Sterling and Morgan. I'd still like to have seen another forward come in but the right one and that player wasn't available so I'd rather we waited rather than doing another "Carroll".

Spearing and Adam for Sahin and Allen. No matter how much I type or read that it still feels like I've won the lottery every single time. Not to mention the fact that Shelvey is actually taking his chance and playing rather well in a deep lying midfield role (the only place I believe he has any future) and Assaidi can play midfield or in a front three.

Defence - We kept everyone and Reina.

If you want to be miserable then I can't really stop you and here's a hint to help out, look at other people because regardless what you have you'll soon forget to appreciate it and want what they have.

If you want to back the manager and the wonderful job he is doing in such a short amount of time and if you want to take a look over to Swansea and realise that Laudrup is able to do what he is doing (short term) because of what Rodgers put in place then above are just a few reasons to be optimistic.

When the time comes for us to step up our search for a proven striker or a young striker with all the attributes needed to fit our system then I'll be worried if we don't go out and buy someone that we have scouted long term and who we have assigned funds for and equally if the time comes to oobuy Sahin at the end of the season and we don't I'll be apoplectic but until that time I'll exercise some cautious optimism and continue to enjoy this new and welcome brand of football and player acquisition and look forward to the next game and the next window (they do have another in 4 months you know...)

I like Rodgers a lot. I think he could be a great manager and he deserves to be backed.

He said the squad was thin and he needed more players and more goals. FSG refused to spend a few million extra on a player they themselves had said would be a great asset to the squad. Spin that.

You honestly think given how much money he brought back into the club that they refused to give him an extra 1 mill? It's no wonder that papers will print any old shite when people continue to believe it.

Rodgers certainly seems like the kind of person that would stay on the phone all night pleading with his board for a few quid and FSG haven't made any kind of allowances for him to get him on board.

Nice spin, I can't disagree with much of that.

You might have a more difficult job convincing Rogers though.

"Newcastle got £35 million for this player last year. To even consider wanting to take him on loan is a liberty really. I need a minimum of three strikers. Once the window shuts, that is it until January. I have got Luis Suarez, Fabio Borini and Andy Carroll. I would need to be a nutcase to even consider at this moment to let Andy Carroll go."

“It is all speculation. I would be here all night if I was to answer questions on speculation, but we have got a very small squad as it is.

“We have lost a lot of players this summer and I hope we will be able to bring some in. I had a target list of players I wanted.

“The club is working very hard behind the scenes to manage that process to allow us to get some players in, but in terms of depth, it’s nowhere near where I would want it to be.

“I can’t wave a magic wand to bring players in and get players out.

“There is still a wee bit of time left and hopefully come the end of August we will be ready to go on with the group that we want.”

I think Rodgers is a good manager, but the lack of strikers at the club is very alarming, the only potential positives I see are that a) we will find out just how good our manager is and b) we will find out just how good our youth/reserve setup is at providing players for the first team.

Also I dont believe we have the option to buy Sahin, although I would be delighted if we did, even if we dont now, things may change over the course of the year, here's hoping.

A Saturday morning breath of sanity, thank fuck for that.

AVB is spot on here, just that with today's Sky soccer drama on demand it takes a bit of nous to see the long term picture. We've still got to say adios to Joe Cole, and if Downing can't cut it as a left back then he also may be shipped out. Out with the old and in with the new and improved won't happen overnight, and it won't happen without us falling on our arses along the way, but I'm at least thankful that we seem to be out of the habit of paying ridiculous prices for overrated players on massive wages.

Together with the youth that's coming through the ranks, we are probably healthier than we have been for the last 3 or 4 seasons.

Patience is a dirty word nowadays, but unfortunately that's what is going to be required. And so called supporters who haven't got it should fuck off and support one of the big spenders.

Get behind your team or GET TO FUCK !

I didn't say £1 million by the way, I said a few million. That's all the difference can have been.

"I would need to be a nutcase to even consider at this moment to let Andy Carroll go."

Who's going to tell Brendan to get to fuck? I consider myself a supportive fan with reasonable expectations from Rogers. But I am fucking alarmed that in a whole month we couldn't get a striker. I refer you back again to the managers comments, he has been shafted, end of.

AT THIS MOMENT. Since then in his 3 man attack he has seen the improvement of Sterling and Morgan and he's bought Assaidi and Yesil. Also he was clearly testing the water because he doesn't want Carroll and he's made that blatantly obvious.

“It is all speculation. I would be here all night if I was to answer questions on speculation, but we have got a very small squad as it is.

He's just being clever, we have a 50 man squad.

We brought in some quality players since he said that.

He's got a group he wants but he didn't get Dempsey who he wanted (not because FSG didn't fund him but because Fulham clearly made it personal hence why the deal happened so late as they probably said with an hour and half "Spurs or nothing take it or leave it" and Sturridge on loan because Chelsea didn't get Schurrle but that doesn't sell papers does it?

Because Fulham didn't want him to come to us and clearly wanted to fuck us and him over to send a message? Seems more than plausible to me. Don't you wonder why the deal happened so late on? Rodgers apparently went home after training last night. Anfield was locked up and no reports of any kind of any sniff of a player happened for the first time, what ever? Doesn't add up to me unless of course Fulham told us to go fuck ourselves and we knowing that Sturridge was in France decided that we weren't going to panic buy given two players that were actual real targets weren't coming here.

If this doesn't happen, another season written off before year end when we could have spent £1million more for somebody who would get us goals (although not a forward). Amortised over three years is less than the one week of salary saving for off loading the players in the window. This is context.

And we're one injury or suspension away from disaster. if he didn't need a striker why go for Dempsey or Sturridge anyway?

Get off the happy bus, the windows are clean enough.

I realise it's not as black or white as painted, we have some shite we couldn't shift. But they've made what was a very difficult job into a monumental task. This was their man, a striker was a priority, You think they would at least have back the poor fucker.

It fucking stinks, it really does. All we can hope for is that these young lads do well and that we can avoid injuries. There's your transformation into a mid table team, we're even thinking like mid table fans now.

Rodgers identified two targets for his front three, Sturridge and Dempsey. Dempsey was determined to come here but Fulham were equally determined not to sell him to us.

Sturridge was in France and wasn't available to any team on transfer deadline day.

Show me another striker/forward that Rodgers made a bid or even serious enquiry for that he didn't get and then I'll believe it's down to the owners not fronting up some chicken feed.

WTF is TLA!?

Seriously, I have been prepared to stand back and give the owners some breathing space. Yes, they 'saved' the club from likely administration. That should not be forgotten. Yes, they havent made outlandish promises (or have they?) and managed people's expectations. Yes, they eventually appointed the King when everyone was calling for him to be given the reins. And yes, they have increased the club's income substantially which can only be a good thing in today's footballing environment.

So, I acknowledge all that the owners have done. But, Im astounded at how they have approached this season and the club in general this season.

As regards outlandish promises, they have been quiet about this. Except werner saying LFC can 'compete' with anyone on or off the field. Clearly he means transfers here. So why are we shipping players out left, right and centre and bringing no one of note in? You cant call youth \ young players competing with 'anyone' in my book.

We've let players they sanctioned the purchase off 12 - 18 months ago for big fees. Henderson would have joined that list if he hadnt of turned down being the makeweight in the dempsey deal (WTF, we offered fulham henderson and money for dempsey!?).

I dont get the transfer strategy either. We wanted to sign dempsey a 29 yo with no sell on value yet only wanted a loan deal for sturridge who was prepared to come on a transfer so would have a sell on value? OK, we can say we dont know all the details of these deals but questions must be asked.

As for Carroll, Im just astounded. We agreed a deal to move him out yet didnt have anything agreed to bring in a replacement? WTF sanctioned that one? Oh, let me guess, the owners?

Call Dalglish what you will but, there's no way he would have let a striker leave with no one agreed and signed up to come in first.

No doubt people will say this isnt sabremetrics, moneyball or just a glorified fuck up but, this is where we are at. The owners, imo, are turning the club into one that will exist purely to develop new talent for other so called bigger clubs. Agger would have been sold if city had of bid enough or, we'd have been prepared to accept their actual lower bids. Make no mistake, Suarez, Skrtel and Reina will be gone well before their new contracts end (yep, I know Reina hasnt signed a new contract).

Any of these young players we have just signed or who come through the youth teams will be sold on for profit. They wont be developed to turn us into a title challenging side.

Rodgers clearly believed yesterday that having shipped a number of players out and freed up some money, that he'd be allowed to bring a new player or players in. Just what he's thinking right now truely would be wonderous to know.

Im not an agenda driven person. I've no agenda. But, I do think these owners have now exhausted their feelgood factor and backing from many, many fans now. I thought we'd be able to challenge for 4th, now, I dont think that way at all.

Frankly, I dont know where we go from here.

Oh if that's the case I'll burn Fenway down myself but it clearly isn't and for exactly the reason you stated. 1 million extra is nothing to them and they would have made it back in shirt sales, goals and if they are so dastardly being able to not back Rodgers next time out citing that as an example.

I just don't believe for a second that FSG risked our whole season for the sake of 1m, I like to challenge things I read with informed opinion rather than head straight for my pitch fork, I'm strange like that.

Is this sent via Werner's Blackberry?

His Hedge fund's online professional appreciators are in full strengh today.

I like the final bit:

player acquisition and look forward to the next game and the next window they do have another in 4 months you know

This hilarious line reminds me Hicks back in 2009. "Be patient the next transfer window will be BIG"... my arse

Fulham are claiming we only offered them £3m, and we haven't responded. If it's bullshit and we were prepared to match the price they accepted from Villa and Spurs, I would expect that to be leaked by us in the next few days, given the way we've been happy to play things out through the media in the summer.

Plus, if Fulham did fuck us over, they must have done an about-face after leading us to believe that a fee was agreeable between the two clubs. We would definitely leak that if it had happened. The alternative is that we didn't even establish that understanding with them before yesterday. Given that we'd been linked with the player all summer, that would make Rodgers being let down even more inexcusable.

Just re-read your post and there are a lot of good points in it. I negged you for the superfan bit at the end - everyone here supports the club, some people believe that BR has been badly let down and the team/ squad will be worse because of it. That's not failing to get behind the team -quite the opposite actually. I apologise for negging, you though.
