Barca 3-4-3 formation. no one is coming to the nou Camp and putting 10 men behind the ball

Wow, maybe the writer that mentioned they'd do that a while back was actually right then, sounds like a great way for them to play if they can do it.

Was looking forward to this then forgot about it too, always fucking happens with Spanish footie. Will have to start leaving notes near the monitor on the days Barca are playing.

It's like Villareal are playing a different sport. It's like the New York Yankees got on the wrong plane and are out there playing football against Barca. It's men against toys.

Only saw the 2nd half but that was amazing. Back 3 of Busquets, Masch and Abidal, but they hardly even needed to do anything. Also noticed that the midfield and attack more or less stayed in Villarreals half, which enabled Masch and Busquests to push up to their natural holding mid positions anyway. They're just playing on another level completely.

Looking forward to seeing how much they stick with that formation, because it makes the most sense by far, and is what Pep played in when Cruyff managed them so you get the feeling he's always wanted to do it. Can't see them going to Real's ground and trying it obviously, but maybe they'll do it for most home games at least.

Barca 2-0 up within 11 minutes against Sociedad.

The outfield players on the Barca bench are Abidal, Puyol, Iniesta, Mascherano, Messi and Villa !!!

Looks like it backfired on them with the eventual 2-2 result... Just checked a match report and they brought on Iniesta in the 80th apparently, maybe Pep should've got him on earlier. Would've kept Sanchez on too instead of bringing him off in the 32nd, seems a bit bizarre.

Sanchez tore his hamstring.

Ah for fucks sake. Thanks, wondered what was going on there. Hopefully he'll recover quickly.

Just checked and apparently he could be out for 2 months, that's fucked up. Explains a decent bit about the result too, Peps gameplan would've probably worked had that not happened. Think he should've brought on Iniesta or Messi instead of Villa as the replacement though for the creativity.
