Steve Rotheram's anti-Hicks/Gillett EDM

Oh well, better than saying nowt, I suppose, but an odd thing to do. What's he expect the House to do about 'noting Rafa's departure'? Perhaps Nick Clegg will express his wish that Rafa will return in two years, while being shouted down by Dennis Skinner: ''E's gone, ya daft bugger, get over it!'

LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB09.06.2010

Rotheram, Steve

That this House expresses its dismay at the failure of the American owners of Liverpool Football Club to exercise responsible stewardship of the club; notes the departure of the outgoing manager Rafael Benitez; regrets the failure to fulfil promises of a new stadium; supports consultation and engagement with supporters' groups; and looks to an early change of ownership and a positive strategy to take the club forward.

I emailed him last month raising my anger at the Yanks and this is what he said to me...

Gary

Thank you for expressing your concerns regarding the future of Liverpool Football Club. I will be pushing for an early meeting on the future of both Football Clubs once I have a base (both in London and Walton). I have copied the Leader of the City Council into this response.

Cheers

Steve

When he mentions both clubs I dont think he means groundshare. I think he has got to be seen as neutral so has to raise concerns for both set of fans.

Good to see Unlucky Luciana finally getting with the programme after her "You can't ask a girl a football question!" response during the election campaign (when she had to be told who Bill Shankly was).

Incidentally, Steve Rotheram is a great guy, I'm happy he's representing our city in Westminster.

I know.

Our local MP comes out and he still gets a jibe.

People cant win.

Don't be silly. 'Coming out' with an EDM to a mostly empty chamber, maybe getting a line or two of local coverage for the already converted? Pretty much what I said - his heart's in the right place but it's not the best way to get anything discussed in the Commons. Hardly a 'jibe' from anyone.
