I think as soon as ridiculous bids such as the amount Chelsea are alleged to have bid for Torres, ditto Ronaldo to Real, it sets a new standard of what is 'acceptable' in the market and all values are dragged up as a result. Fucking clubs are running themselves into massive debts because of this shit, and a lot of the blame falls on the shoulders of a billionaire with a dodgy background who at times seems to treat the multi-million dollar thing he owns called a football club like his toy of the week and doing his bit to fuck football in the process. Then along come dickheads like Hicks and Gillett...well let's not go there for now.
