Recommended Posts

I always thought people who couldn't say words properly were idiots. I still dont get how people say things like Sketti Bolognaise.

However, in reading this thread i have realised i say perscription and now worry i was dropped on my head as a child.

There's also an argument that people who mispronounce some less-common words, but use them correctly, have probably learned the word through reading, and reading is good.

I don't think sketti is a mispronunciation: I think it's just slang.

I had a German friend years ago who spoke excellent English except for words with a silent letter (pneumonia, knight etc) which he always pronouced and spaghetti which came out as busgehetti.

An Australian friend drives me up the wall writing ect and saying ekt cetera

“Tosser” I keep walking round calling people “Strontium Dog” I get some funny looks. Especially from dog walkers. As soon as they hear it they leg it as if Purple Aki had just stepped out from behind a tree
