Absolutely no chance we sign him, and even from a political point of view I'm struggling to see why we're keen to be seen as 'trying' -  Lavia only looks more underwhelming if we get him after being knocked back for Caceido.

Was just thinking the same - we’ll somehow have managed to take the good out of the Lavia deal should it go through with the Caicedo stuff.

Did you see Chelsea last season?

I thought I addressed that.  They’ve had shocking seasons before.  They’re clearly being funded by the Saudis or someone wanting to just throw money around.  They aren’t Everton.  They will throw money around until they win something and they can actually attract good players because of being in London and having success.

Objectively to someone like Caicedo Klopp appears to be going backwards.  We are playing stupid tactics that are going to fuck us up and the club don’t spend enough money compete anyway.  Half of our team have just walked out the door and we’ve spent 70m on a donkey up front who we are just going to have to stick with because once again we can’t afford not too.

Everything aside I can’t believe anyone would want to move to a London club. London is the worst place going. Property prices are insane with the irony that I wouldn’t live there for free. Last time I went I had to step over an actual meaty human turd and this was outside some ‘exclusive’ bar I’d been forced to go to on a stag do and that was a highlight. I was on the first train out of Euston on the Sunday morning and did a Pope style kiss of the ground the second I got back.

Liverpool are preparing on planning an audacious proposal to tentatively proffer a suggestion to put forward an offer to postulate a submission of a bid to strongly assert a draft approach for the player for a fee no less than one hundred guineas.

The thing with this is it's complete fly by night nonsense, which is why it seemed and still seems unlikely.

It's basically what United or Chelsea do all the time with these late window deals where they pay massive fees for players because they feel compelled to for whatever reason.

But he's truly an elite player, so who cares.

I don't think we're anywhere near as bad as them. Probably a case of looking at a million stats and comparing them to Caicedo, suddenly the penny drops that splashing out on Caicedo makes more sense than spending half that amount on someone inferior to him. He could be transformational for us, he's like Gini on super peds.

There's been a complete lack of coherence to our business, though.

Mac Allister was a fantastic piece of business. Daylight robbery in this market.

I'm sure Szoboszlai will be a quality signing, but would it not have made more sense to use the £60m towards going all in on Caicedo, who most are comparing to Van Dijk/Alisson levels of gamechanging quality?
